Dear sir/madam,

I have a Joomla! 4 website that uses the DJ Catalog (component of dj-extensions) for content. I would like to start using the default Joomla articles and categories (in combination with extra fields) in stead of the products of DJ Catalog. Is it possible to import the products into articles with your product?

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Kind regards,
Marjan Nordholt

Hello Marjan Nordholt,
You can import Joomla articles and categories along with custom fields using RO CSVI. The problem is that we do not support DJ Catalog extension. Does this extension provide an option to export products?
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hello Marjan,
Yes you can import the exported CSV using RO CSVI Joomla categories and Joomla content import. You can run a sample import on our demo server and check.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Dear Tharuna,

I have compared the tables from DJ Catalog and Joomla articles. I think the main problem in importing will be caused by the images. In DJ Catalog. the images are stored in a seperate table and per product there is more than one image possible.
Is there a workaround for this, do you know? I have tried an extra field media, but there can only be one extra image in there.

Kind regards,

Marjan

Yes, media field can take one image. You can import two images using fields image_intro and image_fulltext in Joomla content. Please check I want to import articles with images document to know to use these fields. fields. You can also have multiple media custom fields as per the number of images you want to import. Will that not help?
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Dear Tharuna,
I thought I start easy, importing some categories. But I get an error message:
An error has occured during the import. Below the information received from the server.
Status error: 504
Status message: Gateway Timeout
Gateway Timeout

The gateway did not receive a timely response from the upstream server or application.

Is this normal? Is the demo only to preview? Not to actually test if import is possible and see the result in the category section?

Thank you for your help in advance.

There is a server time limitations with processing. You can import a smaller file with few records and check the category section. I am assuming you tried with large file you exported from DJ catalog.

Tharuna

Dear Tharuna,
It was not a very big file, only 10 rows. But I have removed some and now it is working.
I still do not know what to do with the images. It is okay for me to only use one featured image per article but how do I put them in the csv file? Do I have to put them in the params? Can I make a column 'image'?
And why can there be no images added to the categories?

Images is the params column in Joomla where article images are saved. You can either put them in images column directly or use image_intro or image_fulltext fields in import file and RO CSVI will put them under images params on import. Please check the document I want to import articles with images to use these fields.

If you are using images column then you need to import value in the below format.

{"image_intro":"","image_intro_alt":"","float_intro":"","image_intro_caption":"","image_fulltext":"","image_fulltext_alt":"","float_fulltext":"","image_fulltext_caption":""}

And why can there be no images added to the categories?

You can import images to categories. Like Joomla content you can either import params field or add column image in import file to import images.
Kind regards,

Tharuna
