It seems VM related products are being exported in a different order, as the one defined in the backend? Perhaps sorted by ascending product id or SKU?

We need to keep the ordering defined in the backend. We want to promote to our customers certain products first.

Is there something we missed?

Thanks

Hello,

Yes as of now related product is sorted based on product id.

We need to keep the ordering defined in the backend. We want to promote to our customers certain products first.

Is there something we missed?

Load the patch file so to export related_products field based on ordering field.

Thank you, I tried the patch and the related products seem to be exported in the desired order.

Now I am about to import them (on a dev site) to see it in action, and I have the following question...

Do I need to delete the previous related products from the database, before import?

My aim is to replace the previous related product entries, with the new ones (with the desired ordering), for the SKUs included in the CSV.

Thanks

Hello,
Thank you, I tried the patch and the related products seem to be exported in the desired order.

Thank you for confirming patch is working. This fix will be included in upcoming RO CSVI release.

Do I need to delete the previous related products from the database, before import?

In your import template on Options tab set Delete related products field to Yes, save the template and run the import. This setting will delete the existing related products for a product and imports the new ones from file.

Hello,
[RO CSVi 7.19.1 (without the 2021 patch you sent us)]
I am getting this error:
Import file contains 1398 lines
No supported fields have been found in the import file

Try updating available fields and check. Patch file has no relation to this error.

Template is set to the following:
Operation: Related Product
Use file for configuration: Yes
Fields: product_sku, related_products
(although we also tried with no pre-set fields)

Your import content is good so try import after updating available fields.

In your import template on Options tab set Delete related products field to Yes, save the template and run the import. This setting will delete the existing related products for a product and imports the new ones from file.

This setting mentioned in my previous reply is for VirtueMart Product import template and is not for VirtueMart related products import template.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Thank you.

I am still unable to use the exported "Related Products" file. Getting the "No supported fields have been found in the import file" error.
(yes, I did maintenance update available fields)

Could you please try to import the attached file and tell me if you can parse it ok?

Thanks

Hello,
I was able to reproduce "No supported fields have been found in the import file" error with your import file and that is because your file is a BOM file.

What you can do is
1. In import template on Options tab set Autodetect Delimiters to No and set Field delimiter to ,(comma) and Text enclosure to " (double quote). See attached screenshot.
2. on Options tab set Use file for configuration to No, save the template.
3. On template fields page, select the import template and add fields product_sku and related_products.
4. Run the import and check.

Thank you, that was it. I re-saved the file as UTF8 without BOM, and problem was fixed.
Just know that the file was exported as such (with BOM) from CSVi. I don't know if you have control over this, or it's a server/browser/OS thing.

And questions that came up:
Does this whole discussion apply to related_categories as well?
Does related_categories need fixing in export ordering, or has it been fixed with this patch?
If I set "Delete related products" option, also delete related categories?

Didn't have time to check/confirm the above. Will do so soon. Thanks

Hello,

In your export template on File tab is you have set Excel CSV option to Yes you will get file with BOM on export. By default this option is set to No.

Does this whole discussion apply to related_categories as well?
Does related_categories need fixing in export ordering, or has it been fixed with this patch?

Patch has ordering fixed for related_categories as well.

If I set "Delete related products" option, also delete related categories?

No, Delete related products option is for related_products only. We have Delete related categories option in our todo list and will be included in our future release.

We proceeded with the import, all went well.

Even though there was no "Delete related categories", the imported related_categories did not create double entries over the previous ones, which is awesome.

Thank you very much!

Update:

The imported related products, are not in the order they are defined in the CSV!

This is on a production site (CSVi 7.19.1 without the 2021 patch in this thread).

Do we need the patch for the correct import order as well?

Hello,
The patch file has ordering only for export and not for import. As of now related products ordering is not supported. I will develop this feature and send you a patch file once it is ready.
Kind regards,
