Hi,

What fields are required to create a custom import/export template so I can export all the product data in one go? I need to supply the CSV file to my customer so they can populate it with the product details and image names and address. Feel it will be easier doing this in 1 document rather than emailing them multiple files.

Thanks

Hello,

We have a list of available fields for Virtuemart online where you can search for your fields. Although I generally recommend adding one product or taking 1 product and export all the fields for this product so you can see in which field the data ends up.

RO CSVI also comes with an example VirtueMart Product export template. You could use that as a starting point and add more fields if necessary. There is also the VirtueMart Products export document on how to export data.

You should be able to do it all in 1 document, it is just a question of which fields you will want to put in there as VirtueMart has over 100 fields to choose from.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Thanks. I've created a new template merging the 2 examples already installed. Virtuemart Products and Virtuemart Media. There was just 1 field I couldnt add to my custom template [file_type]?

Hello,

Glad to hear you are making progress. The file_type field is not available for the product import as it defaults to product. This is because you cannot import other type of images with the product import. So it is fine to leave that out in your product template.
Kind regards,

Hello,

What about the product categories? what is the structure / format of this column? how would I list categories and sub categories?
We have that explained in the list of available fields.

Here is the excerpt from that:
Creating one category

"category_path"
"Parent/Child"

Creating multiple categories

"category_path"
"Parent/Child|Second Parent/Second Child"

Let me know if that answers your question.
Kind regards,

RolandD
