Hello,
I need import Virtuemart 1.1.9 with a Joomla 1.5.26 to Virtuemart 3.0.6.4 in Joomla 3.4.1. (Joomla is yet migrated ok, I need only import VM) I'm not sure if this is possible directly or I must migrate first from Virtuemart 1.1.9 with a Joomla 1.5.26 to Virtuemart 2+ and Joomla 2+ or Joomla 2.5+...
I see some video-tutorials but they are with old versions of CSVI and they are very different than the actual version.
I can import directly from Virtuemart 1.1.9 with a Joomla 1.5.26 to Virtuemart 3.0.6.4 in Joomla 3.4.1?

Excuse my English and thanks for your help

Kind regards

Hello,

Let me start by saying that CSVI is not a migration tool. If you simply want to move over the products/categories/manufacturers that isn't going to be a problem. However if you really want to move everything over another approach will be needed. In that case an update of VM 1 to VM 2 to VM3 is the way to go forward. This will keep all your original data. You can do that on a test site, since you will need to update Joomla with it of course. Once you are on Joomla 3 with VM 3, you can take the VirtueMart database tables and put those in your new site, after that install VirtueMart 3 and you should be all set.
Kind regards,

Hello,
Excuse me, I haven't experience with this and I need more details to be sure that I understand right  . (I used with succesfull your csvi free one time to export a Joomla 1.5.26 to Joomla 2, but without Virtuemart.)
I have a Joomla 1.5.26 migrated ok to joomla 3.4.1. Then I need import the virtuemart 1.1.9 with Joomla 1.5.26 to Virtuemart 3.0.6.4 with Joomla 3.4.1. I wish to import this directly. ¿Is correct install a CSVI Free 1.9.2 to Joomla 1.5.26 and the CSVI Pro 5.21.2 to Joomla 3.4.1 to export? What is your recomendation? Is better use the CSVI 6?

Can you inform step by step about what is the best way to do it in my case?

Thanks for your help patient

Hello,

You are correct, you need to install CSVI Free 1.9.2 on the Joomla 1.5 site and CSVI 5.21.2 Pro on the Joomla 3 site. You can then run the product export on the Joomla 1.5 site and use that file to run the product import on Joomla 3.

Most fields are the same by name still but the image fields have changed. I have forgotten the image name fields in VM1 but the new fields are called file_url and file_url_thumb.

Do this process with a few basic fields first like product_sku, product_name, category_path and published. If all goes well, you can add more fields as you need.
Kind regards,

Hello,
Thanks for your speed answer and help. I read some tutorial but they are a question that I don't find. I think is basic but I don't know. Excuse me if this information exist in a forum.

In Settings they are the field "domain name". What domain name I must to write in this field? I try to explain better.
I have a working site named: http://www.cortinaestor.es but I will use CSVI from a clon of this web to the new Joomla 3.4.1 because is better not use the working site.

The domain names that I use are:
http://www.cortinaestor.es/clon (Clon of the working site cortinaestor in Joomla 1.5.26 and VM 1.1.9) Origen
http://www.cortinaestor.es/jom315 (New Joomla 3.4.1 with VM 3.0.6.4) destination
Of curse, the domain name that will be the website after importation etc, must be http://www.cortinaestor.es, the same than they are now the working website.

Then, what domani name I must wirte in a clon 1.5.26 and what domani name I must write in a new Joomla 3.4.1?
http://1-cortinaestor.es/clon?
http://2-cortinaestor.es/jom315
3-cortinaestor.es?

And with or without "http://www."?

Thanks a lot!

Hello,

It doesn't matter much what you put in here because it is only used when exporting the product_url and/or file_url fields or if you run a cronjob. It has no other purpose.

I think if you just put in http://www.cortinaestor.es you should be fine.

Hello,
Thanks for your help but I'm another problem and maybe you can help me again:

Since there are field names and paths that have changed from one version to another. When importing CSVI Virtuemart to be very useful to have a table that could see the correspondence between the names fields of existing fields in Joomla 1 and VM1 regarding Joomla 3 and Virtuemart 3. And the same for the routes.

I think we would be useful to many users: P

Example: Field name have changed

Virtuemart 1 ---> Virtuemart 3
category_thumb_image -> file_url_thumb

Example: Pathways changed
Virtuemart1 -> Virtuemart 3 [/ b]
components / com_virtuemart / shop_image -> images / stories / virtuemart

Kind regards and Thanks!

Hello,

maybe you can help me again:
I will try :)

Well VirtueMart 1 is no longer supported, it is very old in terms of software. So I don't see the need to spend time on that. Feel free to create the list and I am willing to post it on the site.

As for the image path, ideally you would not need to do anything about that other than choosing the default in the template.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hello,
I understand. But maybe you can help me about the image category names.
The name of the images of categories in VM 1.1.9 was "category_full_image" and the thumbs of categories was "category_thumb_image". The route where I have now the category images is:
Full image of categories vm:
home/public_html/mydomine/subdomine/images/stories/virtuemart/category
Thumb image of categories vm:
home/public_html/midominio/subdominio/images/stories/virtuemart/category/resized

Note: They are in a subdomin mainwille I make the import. After that I will change it to the url in production

But I think in Virtuemart 3 the name of category images and thumbnails of the categories is the same as the pictures and thumbnails of products: "file_url" and "file_url_thumb"
Should I put the images of product and category on the same route?
In this case, should I move images from the current route:
home / public_html / mydomain / subdomain / images / stories / virtuemart / category
to the route:
home / public_html / mydomain / subdomain / images / stories / virtuemart / product?

Thanks for your help!
Kind regards

Hello,

But maybe you can help me about the image category names
Sure.

But I think in Virtuemart 3 the name of category images and thumbnails of the categories is the same as the pictures and thumbnails of products: "file_url" and "file_url_thumb"
Correct, images for both the product and category import are called file_url for the large image and file_url_thumb for the thumbnail image.

The location of the images in VirtueMart 3 is images/stories/virtuemart/product and images/stories/virtuemart/category. That is where the images should be moved to using FTP. These are the default locations of the VM images.

So you can set the file_url to just the name for example category1.jpg and the file_url_thumb would be set to resized/category1.jpg. In the import template you set the file location to the suggested value. That way CSVI will be able to find the images and import them.
Kind regards,

RolandD

I'm not sure to understand right. Excuse me.
I haven't a directory called /product and images/ and I have only one time the directory named /stories/ but in the location that you suggest the location contents two directories named /stories/. Now I have the images of categories in this other location: images/stories/virtuemart/category

I need changed the location of categories images to: images/stories/virtuemart/product and images/stories/virtuemart/category ?
And the same about images of products: images/stories/virtuemart/product and images/stories/virtuemart/product

The part "product and images" must be write with "_" beetween words or not? (/product_and_images/ or /product and images/)

Thanks a lot! Great support!

Hello,

You seem to have misread my post.
Now I have the images of categories in this other location: images/stories/virtuemart/category
That is the exact same path I wrote.

I need changed the location of categories images to: images/stories/virtuemart/product and images/stories/virtuemart/category ?
And the same about images of products: images/stories/virtuemart/product and images/stories/virtuemart/product
You have a mistake in your category path, it must end in category. This change is useless though because you are talking about the same exact category before and after the rename.

The part "product and images" must be write with "_" beetween words or not? (/product_and_images/ or /product and images/)
I don't understand what you mean by that.
Kind regards,

Hello Roland,
Excuse me. Is true I don't understand the post because I read all as one location, they are writte in one line and this a confusion for me. Sorry. But I understand they are two location:

The location of the images in VirtueMart 3 are:
images/stories/virtuemart/product (to the products)
and
images/stories/virtuemart/category (to the categories)

Then, I have the images and thumbs in a correct location but virtuemart don't find the images of categories. Find the image and thumb of product, but not of category. Also, the thumb of product appears resized in a very big size, I don't know the reason.

I must finish the location with "/" in the end or not? For example: "images/stories/virtuemart/category/" or "images/stories/virtuemart/category"

Thanks to be patien and for your help:-)
Kind regards

Hello,

Post your debug log and a sample of your import file and I can check it for you.

Also, the thumb of product appears resized in a very big size, I don't know the reason.
Without the debug log and sample file I can't answer that for you.

I must finish the location with "/" in the end or not? For example: "images/stories/virtuemart/category/" or "images/stories/virtuemart/category"
As the path suggests in the template, it must finish with the /.
Kind regards,

I adjoint images of the web.
(The image that you can see -only one- is because I charged it manualy from de back end)

Also appears always the error: vmError: $link["view"] is empty

I will send you the csv file to import tomorrow

That is a template issue then, I can't help with that.

I don't do VirtueMart support but I can tell you that this error shows up because there is no menu entry linking to VirtueMart.

Hello,

As mentioned before I am not here for support with template issues or VirtueMart. One tip I can give, check if the image is not resized by HTML. So in the image tag you can have something like this:
<img width="xx" height="xx"
that would also resize the image.

Virtuemart not find the images and thumbs of categories but the images are in a correct location
Can I help me?
I will need the debug log and CSV file you used for import to see what is going on.
Kind regards,

Hello Roland,
I solved a problem about thumb sizes, they are a cause of template and imaged sizes. The template in Joomla 1 was not responsive and the template that I use in Joomla 3 are responsive. This make some problems also if the image size are not the same in all images. I say that because when I solved this the prices appears ok. Then, as you say, is not a CSVI importation problem :)

About the other problem (The VM not find the category images and they are in a correct location) you ask me about the debug log and CSV file that I used for import I don't find it. It is not generated. But the images are yet in a location and I think I only must to writte the route without processing the images.

I configure the import template like this:
Fields: file_url_thumb (Only this because the other information are yet imported ok)
Primary language: Spanish
Translation language: Spanish
General option images: All in "No". (No processing images)
File image location: images/stories/virtuemart/category/resized/
It's ok?

Two questions more:
- In the Joomla 1.5.26 to 1.1.9 VM had the Catalan language translated with Joomfish. Now with Joomla 3 there is the multi-language concept but I don'tknow how to migrate Catalan translations from Joomla 1&VM1 to Joomla 3 & VM3. In CSVI PRO Joomla now appears the "primary language" option and "Translation Language" but I don't know how works. It's possible configurate this option to import the joomfish translation or that must be do manually?

-In CSVI Pro I see import options to Virtuemart that I can't find in CSVI for Joomla 1. For exemple, I can't find the files "Product_high", "Product width" to import that from csv file exported from Joomla 1 to Joomla 3. Excuse my English, I hope you can understand me. I would say they are fields that I can import in the last version of CSVI PRO, but maybe this is not possible to do because I can't generate this files with CSVI in Joomla 1.

Many thanks and kind regards
