Hi
I would like to import a number of articles with certain IDs from a 3.10.12 version into a migrated page (version 5.3). New IDS should be assigned and the customfields should also be imported. What is the best way to do this?

Kind regards
Christoph

Hello Christoph,
You can use id field in import file to have specific IDs and in Joomla content import template on Options tab set Keep content ID to Yes. This will import articles with IDs set in import file. Custom fields will be created to the ID article is assigned to.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hello Tharuna
Many thanks for the quick reply! But the articles should be imported with new IDs. That means, if I set Keep content ID to No in the Options tab, then new ID'S will be created?

Kind regards
Christoph

Hello Christoph,
Yes with Keep content ID set to No new IDs will be created. Also skip id column from import file if you have it.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hello Christoph,
Now I am confused :)

By new IDs you mean that articles should be created with the IDs you have?
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hi Thamura

Thanks again. Sorry for confusing you. Ich have certain Articles in the old system. With some ID's: (2884,2886,2887,2891,2892,2895,2896,2897,2898,2899,2900,2901,2902,2903,2904,2905,2906,2907,2909,2910,2911) In the meantime, in the new parallel-System, some new Articles have the same id but other content. So i want to import all these specific Articles (and only these) to the new system. And all these articles are to receive new IDs.
I hope my request is clear now ;-)

Kind regards
Christoph

Hello Christoph,

Yes I understand now. You are having conflict with IDs in old and new Joomla installation.

So i want to import all these specific Articles (and only these) to the new system. And all these articles are to receive new IDs.

The articles you want new IDs you can import them without id field and set Keep content ID to No. RO CSVI will use cat_id or category_path and title or alias fields from import file and check if article already exists if they don't exists then it will create articles with new IDs. This new ID will be auto increment number in database. If matching article already exists then it will update existing article. Will that work for you?
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hello Tharuna

Thanks again for Helping.
What I still don't understand ... I only want to import certain items with certain IDs. Where exactly can I define these IDs? Or where is there a field where I can enter all the required IDs?

Kind regards
Christoph

Hello Christoph,
I only want to import certain items with certain IDs. Where exactly can I define these IDs?

You can use RO CSVI Skip rule to set the IDs you want to skip on import. Rest of the records will be imported. Apply this rule on ID field and run the import.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hello Christoph,
You can use regular expression with 40 article ID so only they are imported and the rest of hundreds of articles are skipped on import. You can use the below regex in RO CSVI Skip rule. IDs should be separated by |. See attached screenshot. Try it and let me know if that works.

/^(?!2886|2891|2884)/
