Hello,
I need import product child and atributtes. The origen is a Joomla 1.5.26 with Virtuemart 1.1.9. I have CSVI 5 Pro (No 6 Beta).
I wish to import this to new Joomla 3 with Virtuemart 3. The products are yet imported ok but no the derivate products (or child products)

How I can export that from VM 1.1.9 and export the csv field to VM3? Do you know the field names in both virtuemart versions?
Thanks for your help
Kind regards

Hello,

"Not find the product_sku"
That could also mean that the fields in your template are not in the correct order. Without the debug log and CSV file I can't help further.

Note: I can't install the "com_csvi_6.0beta4_pro"
Don't install it, the latest version is beta 6. You should install that.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hello,
I imported a parent and child products. They are imported as a independent product but at the moment is not a problem for me. It's OK, they have prices, images and all information.

But I did something and now the prices of the products that they haven't a parent sku are empty. I tried to import the prices for this products but I can't. I don't understand. Appears a message that say "Not find the product_sku" but the field is in the csv file and the separate fields are ok. I use ~ to separate fields and ^ for enclosure text. These are the same in csv file and import template.
I did a lot of tests and I no find the solution. Can you help me?
Note: I can't install the "com_csvi_6.0beta4_pro"
Thanks!
Kind regards

Hello,

I have the parent products and child products imported but they are showing as a different and independent products.
Something has been setup wrong then, without the required information I can't tell.

I must to delete all products and information and repeat the export-import from zero or I can arrange it without delete the products that I have now imported?
You don't need to delete the products, they will be updated once you run a new import.

For example, I can import only the fields product_sku and product_parent_sku and then will be arranged the products?
That should be OK.

I'm not sure if chlid products on Virtuemart 1 are the same than Size on Virtuemart 3...
I am not sure what you mean by that. VM3 has different ways of dealing with child products, you will need to see which way fits your needs. Just the new type Multi Variant is only supported by CSVI 6.
Kind regards,

Hello Roland,
I have the parent products and child products imported but they are showing as a different and independent products. The parent product has a image but has not a price. And the child product have not a image but have a price... I thinks this is because I made a incorrect import of products on the beguinin.

My question is: I must to delete all products and information and repeat the export-import from zero or I can arrange it without delete the products that I have now imported? For example, I can import only the fields product_sku and product_parent_sku and then will be arranged the products? After this, I will show a child products into the parent products?

Thanks for your patint help

Hello,

A Child products have a "product_sku" but no a "product_parent_sku".
The product_parent_sku is not visible on the edit screen of VirtueMart. You will see it when you do the export. The SKU of the principal product is the product parent SKU of the child products.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hello Roland,
I see that the fields "product_parent_sku" are empty when export from Virtuemart 1.1.9. A Child products have a "product_sku" but no a "product_parent_sku". The image is only in a Principal Product.
I adjoint a screen capture of product and product child from Virtuemart 1.1.9. The principal product has a "product_sku" and the children products are also a "product_sku" (Not a "product_parent_sku";)
The children products have a custom_field (campo personalizado) named "Cualidades" with the label "Medidas" and in this field they are the size.
Thanks!
Kind regards

Hello,

I will try only to import a derivate products (Chlidren products), not attributes. I thinks I can do it with CSVI 5 Pro. Is correct?
Correct, you need at minimum the fields product_sku and product_parent_sku. This is the most basic type of child products. Since you don't have any color selection whatsoever.

Another question: I can associated a derivate product with a principal product using CSVI 5 Pro?
You can use the related_products field to show these releated products.

Perhaps you can install the VirtueMart sample data and see how VirtueMart uses the different kind of parent/child products. You can export these products and see the way it is structured in the export file.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hello Roland,
I would do step by step. At the moment I will try only to import a derivate products (Chlidren products), not attributes. I thinks I can do it with CSVI 5 Pro. Is correct?

I see that I imported ok the SKU of derivated products but they aren't associated with the principal product. A derivate product are showing as a different product ( not like a size or talle of the principal product). Then each SKU of same product belongs to a diferent size have a different price (that's ok) but they haven't a description (customer can't see the size) and they not shows the image. I think I do the export/import right. Maybe I need include more fields. For me will be ok that the child products appears like another product in some cases but I need they show the description (size) and the image. It's possible? Can you help me?
Another question: I can associated a derivate product with a principal product using CSVI 5 Pro? If that's possible will be the best solution.
Thanks a lot for your help.
Kind regards

Hello,

I can instal a "CSVI 6 Beta" simultaneus with CSVI 5 Pro? Or "CSVI 6 Beta" replace CSVI 5 Pro?
You cannot install CSVI 6 and CSVI 5 at the same time on the same site. You can replace CSVI 5 with CSVI 6

Before I continue with your example. Looking at your screenshot of VirtueMart 1, that layout is a customization, so it will never look like that in VirtueMart 3 unless you customize it.

Now your example. In VirtueMart 3 they introduced Multi Variants, this is the equivalent of the attributes in VM1. Here is Multi Variant tutorial on how to use with CSVI 6. Have a look at that and see if you can use that. You can always create a first product by hand of course to see how things work in VirtueMart.

There is an alternative, Stockable Custom Fields however CSVI doesn't support it yet. I am working on implementing support for this extension.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Maybe I have a little confussion about parent products, children products and attributes. I'm not sure if the problem are the attributes or the other...
I have the child products (parent) imported to Virtumart 3 but they are a different product than the Father Product not a size or option from it. It's difficult to explain for me but I try with an example:

In Virtuemart 1.1.9 I have a Father product named Estor Safari Azul and into it they are 6 copies of this product in 6 differents sizes and prices. The image was the same for all products. (I adjoint a screen capture)

Now, in Virtuemart 3 I have only a Father product without differents sizes and prices. It not show any size and show the low price of the differents sizes because is a default price in a Father product. (I adjoint also a screen capture)

Thanks for your help
Kind regards

Hello,

The product attributes as they existed in VirtueMart 1 no longer exist in VirtueMart 3, you will have to find another way of storing those attributes. The new thing in VirtueMart 3 is Multi Variants. However you will need CSVI 6 to import the multi variants. You will need to do a conversion once you figured out how you want to use child products in VirtueMart 3. There are a number of ways of doing it and you just need to see which one fits your needs the best.

Basic child products are imported by using the product_sku and product_parent_sku fields. Where the parent SKU is the SKU of your parent product. The parent product must be before the child products in your import file.
Kind regards,

RolandD
