I'm a newbie to this. I have created my first export template for my Joomla contact database. The fields I need have been successfully added in the field list, arranged in to the order I want, sorted as required and I can run the template to download all the data as a CSV file.

However I don't want all the data all the time, I want to be able to restrict the search to specific entries, which I think means I have to use rules on particular fields. Following the documentation I should be able to do this in the Fields tab but if I put anything at all in to the small field name box provided I cannot add anything to the rule box. My Fields box looks different to the one on the documentation provided which shows a much larger box - I attach a screenshot from my template.

Have I missed something somewhere?

Hello,

You can either use the Skip rule for that or the Options tab. However I see your template does not have the Options tab, which would mean you are using the Custom Table export, am I right?

That tiny box you have is because there are no rules created in your system yet. However I do not think you need that place to apply your rule but rather the template field the condition applies too.

Please have a look at the Skip rule document I linked above and let us know how it goes.
Kind regards,

RolandD
