Resolved Available Fields are different for Import and Export

I've Updated Template Fields but the list of available fields showing in Import does not match the list showing in Export.

Yes, not all the fields in export are available for import. We have few customised fields which are available only for export or import.

For example I can Export product info to a CSV including picture_url and picture_url_thumb but I cannot add those fields when creating an Import template?

picture_url and picture_url_thumb fields are not available for import and so you don't see them in import template. These fields are available in export to get the complete URL of image including the domain name. For import you need to use file_url and file_url_thumb fields. Import template has settings on Image tab to import external URLs. You can check Import VirtueMart images document on how to import images for Products in VirtueMart.
