Resolved vmError: Img2Thumb NewImgCreate with imagecreatefromstring failed on Virtuemart

Hello to all.

We are having a Joomla 3.9.5 site and we are using VirtueMart 3.4.2.

We are importing products using CSVI Pro through an xml file (sample of first three lines attached).

The problem is that after import completes, in the backend we see the error “vmError: Img2Thumb NewImgCreate with imagecreatefromstring failed” and no images are displayed nor in the backend nor in the frontend.

The image files are short of created on the server and by that I mean that we do see files being created with different file sizes but none of them can be displayed as a photo.

I’m attaching log file of the import (com_csvi.log.73.zip), xml file sample (iself_4.xml) and xml file of the template we are using (csvi_templates_mobileproject.gr_20190507.xml).

On our hosting we have allow_url_fopen and allow_url_include options enabled.

Joomla admin and ftp credentials are available if necessary.

Hello,

The image problem you see is because your images are not real images. As you can see in the image URL it ends with photo.php instead of something like image.jpg. We have updated CSVI so your images can be handled as well.

What you need to do is load the attached patch file and apply it. After that edit your template and set the option Encode URL to No under the Credentials field.

After that you can run the import and the images should be imported.
