Hello to all!

We are facing the following issue:

When importing product images, CSVI fills the product's 'Used thumb url' field also; but we are using the Virtuemart's auto-creating of thumbnails, so this field must be empty, otherwise it creates some layout issues in our case. Haven't been able to find a setting for this, would appreciate your advice. (There is an option in the template called 'Automatic Thumbnail Creation' but even if i put it on YES, the 'Used thumb url' is still filled)

See attached pics for your info (image import settings and the relevant 'Used thumb url' in VM3)

Regards,
Chris

Hello,
May i know what will be the issue you would have if you use CSVI thumbnail creation? Just wanted to know the difference in CSVI thumbnail generation and VirtueMart thumbnail generation.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hi Tharuna,

Virtuemart has an option to create the thumbnails dynamically, it is called "Enable Dynamic Thumbnail Resizing". This way, you don't have to create and save all the thumbnails beforehand and then update the URLs (this is the CSVI way), but instead these are being created on the fly by Virtuemart. We are using this feature of Virtuemart, so we don't want to explicitly set the thumbnail URL, CSVI should leave it blank.

Chris

Hello Chris,

The thumbnail being filled by CSVI has been that way for years. There are 2 ways you can go about this. First is to use the Media import to import your media items. This will leave the thumbnail empty if you import an empty value. You can use the same file, just need to configure a second template to use the needed fields. The other way is to create an import override of the VirtueMart product import and remove line 1572. That will then also leave the thumbnail empty.
Kind regards,
