Hi Roland,
I'm trying to import some product images from a remote, password protected ftp with no success. More specifically, the file url field is smth like:
ftp://usernameassword@h2373017.stratoserver.net/16_0.jpg|ftp://usernameassword@h2373017.stratoserver.net/16_1.jpg|ftp://usernameassword@h2373017.stratoserver.net/16_2.jpg|ftp://usernameassword@h2373017.stratoserver.net/16_3.jpg
If i enter each ftp individually in browser i can see the pics, ok, but csvi cannot retrieve the images, see attached log file (i have replaced the username/password fields but if you want them for test purposes you may pm me)
Thanks in advance! Using latest Beta 6

Chris

Hello Chris,
For now you can specify the thumbnail names yourself by including the file_url_thumb field.
also, it is not the best thing to do for SEO, as the search engines see them as one file and not two different files as it is the case. That sounds pretty crazy as the files are in different locations. Will think about it.

Hi Roland,
Did some more tests, my error during import, the correct path is ofcourse with slash at the end: images/stories/virtuemart/product/RDX/
Everything is working fine
One suggestion though which would appreciate if you can consider: add prefix for thumbnails, (e.g. th_ in our case)
At the moment CSVI names the normal size files and thumbs with the same name, which is not convenient for us; also, it is not the best thing to do for SEO, as the search engines see them as one file and not two different files as it is the case.
Rgrds,
Chris

Great Roland, just gave it a try and it works! :cheer:
Noted the following:
- The "Location product files" is not working properly it seems. I tried images/stories/virtuemart/product/RDX and it just copies the files in images/stories/virtuemart/product folder. I also tried images/stories/virtuemart/product/RDX/ but the images are not imported, i can see the following when going in product edit page in vm3 backend for example:
vmError: Couldnt create thumb, file not found /home/qttest/public_html/images/stories/virtuemart/product/ftp://haendlerzugang:RDX_haendlerzugang@http://h2373017.stratoserver.net/16_0.jpg
- CSVI created its own resized imgs folder name RDXresized in /images/stories/virtuemart/product folder. Can we instruct the proper path of the resized images to csvi? Just like the "Location product files", e.g. ""Location product files thumbs"

Hello Chris,
Actually it worked and it wasn't working. It works with a single image but not with multiple images and the option to create image names.
Attached is an updated patch, give it a try and let me know. This worked for me with multiple images.

Hey Chris,
I received the file and had a look but I see that going the FTP route it simply doesn't work in the current setup. I will take a look at implementing FTP support but this is not a 5-minute job
Since I will be out for Joomla Day France today it will be sometime next week when I will have something ready.

Hello Chris,
There is something odd with the file_url field, see this:
If you could send me the real file via email or PM I would appreciate it, I will check what is going on. I never used URLs like this with CSVI, so it may need some tweaking.
