The backend VM and Joomla language is English. If I select categories in a template it is showing the categories in Italian! (IT is installed as one of the 5 languages)
You can see this in screenshot.
Any ideas to solve this?
CSVI PRO 7.3.2
VM 3.2.4
PHP version 7.1.8
Joomla! version 3.7.5
Database schema version 7.2.0

Hello,
I cannot reproduce this either but I have an idea as to how this can happen. The language list is build using the Joomla languages and the category based on the active languages set in VirtueMart. In my case I guess I just get the same language first. This only happens when you create a new template, correct?
Do you get the correct list of categories when you open a template for editing?

I tried the patch didn't solve the strange behaviour.
Created a new product export from the start, default language showing is German, if I then select a category, the category list is in Italian. If I then change English and back to German, the select category list, is refreshed and categories are shown in German.
Can you reproduce this?

Hello,
Italian is the first in the list!CSVI requests the list of languages from Joomla and there is no ordering applied whatsoever, so whichever comes out of the database first will be the first language. Only CSVI eventually shows the list sorted alphabetically.
It works when I change the language, and then search for categories.I am a little bit confused here, when you change the language the category list is updated with the new categories. Due to the type of select list you won't see anything happen unless you open the select list. I guess that is what you mean.
But if I open an existing export script, with already language selected NL for instance, the category list is in Italian!!!This I am able to confirm. The attached patch fixes this for you.

Although Italian is not the default language, when you open a product and select the list of languages on the left, to enter the translation for English, Italian is the first in the list! Strange behaviour from VM perhaps, you would expect DE or FR to be first. Perhaps this is related why CSVI shows default the Italian categories.
BTW: IT was the last languages added to the website

"The category list is initially build up from the first language returned by the system, so I guess that is Italian in your case. When you have saved the template with a language it is using that language. "
This is not the case, the first language is EN for VM as well as Joomla.
I checked for Java but no errors, response seems ok.
header: https://xyz/administrator/index.php?option=com_csvi&view=template&layout=edit&csvi_template_id=177
response: {"beslist":"Beslist","csvimproved":"CSV Improved","custom":"Custom","google":"Google","oodle":"Oodle"
,"snelstart":"Snelstart","yandex":"Yandex"}

Hello,
So I checked this in my template, when I change the language the category list is refreshed with the categories for the selected language. Since the list doesn't refresh for you, can you check if you have any Javascript errors?
How to do that is explained in these Analyze documents.

Hello,
The categories should change as you change the language in the dropdown on the first option. Doesn't that happen for you?
