Hi Rolandd,

I'm using VM 3.0.2 on Joomla 3.3.6 and as I can see there's a possibility to assign as many manufacturers to product as we wish. My question is how can I import (assign) many manufacturers to one product? Is something like below working in "manufacturer_name" column?

product_sku;manufacturer_name
12345;manufacturer1|manufacturer2|manufacturer3

Best regards,
Chris

Hello Chris,

The concept of having more than one manufacturer for a product is kind of odd to me unless you substitute manufacturer for supplier.

My question is how can I import (assign) many manufacturers to one product?
You can't. CSVI still works with a single manufacturer per product. It will require some extensive reworking of the product import to allow multiple manufacturers since it is not just a name but also the multi-language aspect that needs to be taken into account.

If you really must do it now, the way around it is to do a Custom Table import and do an import on the virtuemart_product_manufacturers table but this does require you to have the IDs of both the products and the manufacturers.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hi,

Thanks for your answer.
sorry to hear it doesn't work the easy way. It's an idea I was waiting for, in example if you're selling books you have co-edition of two publishers (manufacturers) which are quite equal, so many manufacturers to one product are for a reason.

Best regards,
Chris

Hello Crhis,

I will take a look at adding this but it will be added to CSVI 6 then.

Hi,

I am trying this, but for every entry a new manufacturer is created. How can we work around that?

I know for groups the name also seems unique, as we do not have the issue there.

Hey Chris,

If you mean that duplicate manufacturers are created, please post the debug log for us to check. That should not be happening.
Kind regards,

RolandD
