Hi,

I've added some multi variant custom fields to virtuemart and then update the available fields but my new fields aren't showing up.

I've created a template and added only the fields available.
I've reset Tasks and tried again.
What am I doing wrong?

Hello,
Multi variants fields are not available fields and so you are not seeing them. CSVI identifies multi variant field by multi_variant_title and multi_variant_fields during import so you need to use your multi variant fields as explained in Multi variant import document.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

I've probably read that page a thousand times and it still doesn't help.

So at what stage do I add the template fields to the template?

Hello,
Just to confirm, are you trying to do Multi variant import?

So at what stage do I add the template fields to the template?

You need to add multi_variant_title and multi_variant_fields template fields to your template and set up your import file as explained in the above linked document. Hope it is clear.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

The only thing I can't do is shown in the video at the bottom of the page you're referring to, where the fields names are available in the template fields. Mine don't show up despite adding them as custom fields in Virtuemart and updating my Available fields.

Hello,
Size and Color are ramifications and are not multi variant fields. It is explained in the same documentation. You need to add them as custom field type string instead of Multi variant in VirtueMart custom fields page. You can then update your available fields to see them. Hope it is clear.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Arh! OK, I can see that when I create it as a string and update fields, it becomes available in the template fields.

I managed to do it prior to your method by importing once then updating the fields and adding them to the template fields, then importing a second time.

The documentation suggests the custom field is of type 'Multi Variant'.

I've since tried three different imports and the only one which works is as follows:
Add the custom fields as per multi_variant_title in csv file making them type 'Multi Variant' (not strings!)
import csv file once then update fields and add missing template fields
import second time and voila
