I receive this error when testing a connection to a CSV file. There is a post with a similar issue on this forum but it did not solve my problem (my version of CSVI is up to date and I don't have any ampersands in the URL I am trying to access). This is the URL:

https://api.trade.gov/consolidated_screening_list/search.csv?api_key=OHZYuksFHSFao8jDXTkfiypO

Entering the URL in my browser results in the CSV file being downloaded as expected. Using the same URL in CSVI results in an error.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

John

Hello John,
Have you set Use file for extension to be CSV On file tab in your import template settings? This setting is to tell CSVI that your file extension is CSV.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hello,

Yes. The other thread with this issue mentioned setting file type to CSV so at this point I have tried with the 'Take from file' option as well as CSV. Both end with the same result.

Thanks,

John

Helo John,
The code is throwing HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorize when testing the URL though it works on browser and this is the reason for your error. We are going to look into this further and see what we find.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Thanks for looking into this. I have been looking at the way the source URL works as well. It appears that the csv filename listed in the URL is just a pointer. When entered, the URL downloads a file that includes the current date in the name - not the filename that is in the URL (search.csv). I'm not sure if there is a way to get this file with a program - it may only work with a physical click on the link. Any ideas you have to work around this are welcome!

Hello John,
The URL not valid error was because that CSVI encodes the URL and looks like the server does not recognise the encoded URL. We have made encoding URL as an option in template. You can set it to No and check your URL on Source tab. Please apply the attached patch file to get that option in your template.

When entered, the URL downloads a file that includes the current date in the name - not the filename that is in the URL (search.csv). This is not an issue because CSVI copies the content to a temporary file and imports data from there.

Test the patch and let us know.

Hi Tharuna,

I installed the patch and now have the field to Encode URL under Source options. I have set it to No and saved the configuration. When I use the Test URL button I now get a message that says 'The given URL cannot be found'.

Thanks for your continued help with this.

Kind regards,

John

Thanks! It looks good so far. It shows the URL as valid. I will test a full import later and let you know what happens.

Thanks again,

John
