Hi Roland,

I'm trying to set up my first import routine, upload a csv file and update the jos_virtuemart_products with the actual product stock values. My csv file contains the following 3 fields :

product_sku, product_gtin and product_in_stock

I have created my import template (please see attached docx file)
I have created 3 template fields (please see attached docx file)

When I'm running the import process, uploading the csv files etc. the process works fine...

But instead of updating the 2 records which are already in the database, 2 records are added in the jos_virtuemart_products table.

I tried also to open the product_in_stock and product_gtin template field in order to take a screenshot, but the following error messages occured : Template with ID 4 has not been found for the first and Template with ID 5 has not been found for the second (Please see attached docx file).

I'm certainly missing something and I would appreciate if you could advise me how to update instead of insert data. I tried to set rules for each fields, without success, but since I was unable to understand how it's works and don't know if they are really needed in my case, I skip it.

Hello Marc,

I have created my import template (please see attached docx file)
I see you are creating a custom table import while that is not needed. CSVI has full support for VirtueMart but you must install the VirtueMart addon. To answer your question posted on mail, no, you don't need to do all those tables yourself, if you choose the correct import type, for example product import, CSVI will take care of everything. Read more about it in the Import VirtueMart products tutorial.

This issue has been fixed in todays releasse 6.1.0. You would still be able to edit the fields by selecting it and click the toolbar button.

Rules are usually not needed unless you need special treatment for your fields.

Thank you for your explanations. It is clear now. I have downloaded the virtuemart addon, I will install it and try again to create my Import template. I will carefully read your Import VirtueMart Product tutorial.

I have installed the new realease, but my template fields are still locked.
You can edit them using the toolbar button or not? There shouldn't be any lock icon before the field as this has been removed completely.

When I'm trying to create a new template field for my template, I get the following message : Erreur
COM_CSVI_NO_AVAILABLE_FIELDS_FOUND.
Is this for the template of the custom table operation? Have you created a new template for the VirtueMart product import?

Do you see any available fields on the Available fields page?

No I can't edit it using the toolbar button.

Is this for the template of the custom table operation? Have you created a new template for the VirtueMart product import?


I've got one template for which I have created 3 templates fields which are blocked (please see screencapture). When I'm trying to create a new template field by clicking on "New" button (view=templatefields), I get the error message.

If you want I can grant you access to the backend it is perhaps easier for you.

Hi Roland,

I just experienced something weird. I created a new Import Template and added a new template field to this template. And 2 records have been created (please see TEMPLATEFIELDS-2 DB.JPG) !? I had the same issue this morning when I created your Joomla Backend Support account.

Yes about 300

What have you set for operation in the template

Operation field value is Custom Tables (which is the only possible choice)

Hello Marc,

I have reset the Tasks for you and now you can also select VirtueMart operations in your template. As for the duplicate fields, I don't see that happen on your site.

On a sidenote, no need to fill the Your Field, this is not needed for normal operations.
