Hello Romana,
You can replace http:// by ftp:// in your import file for file_url and try the import.

Hello Romana,

CSVI can only download/link the images that are mentioned in the import file. If the image names are not in the import file, CSVI won't be able to import them. In other words CSVI can't scan the server for other images.
Oh dear, sometimes I not have a clue! That is why we are here to help

Hello,
You can provide your server full image path with http:// in file_url field in your import file and set "Save images on server" option to Yes in template settings and on Images tab. With this setting CSVI will download the image and store it on your server.

Hello Romana,
There is no specific place to enter the credentials, CSVI takes the credentials from the URL, so they should be part of your image URL.
A URL with username and password in it looks like ftp://username
assword@hostname/ If you do not have this in your import file, you could do a replacement rule where you replace ftp://hostname with ftp://username
assword@hostname. This can be a simple text replacement. Assign this replacement rule to your image field and I am thinking this should work.

Oh dear, sometimes I not have a clue!
Thanks. tharuna and rolandd!
And next: I wonder if there is a possibility to catch multiple images at one time. Reason: The images are at a supplier. There sometimes is more than one image per product, but I can't say at which products. The file names are at a pattern <sku>number.<extension>
Kindly

Hi,
I have to re-open this thread, because I stuck with the import. The download by ftp works basically, but the images are downloaded to the root directory of the Joomla installation, despite the target is located at images/stories/virtuemart/product/. What is going wrong here?
Kindly
Romana

Hello Romana,
There is indeed something going wrong. Can you send me a private message with one or two products you are importing so I can test with it? Thanks.

Hello Romana,
Indeed the CSV file I meant. Only now I remember that the FTP details are not in the CSV file but you add them with a replacement rule right?
Can you send me a private message with the FTP details? I believe the issue has to do with retrieving the images from the FTP server.

Hello,
I have received the information thank you and was able to reproduce this issue and spot a few more. One of them is your import file missing the field file_type which needs to be set to product. Otherwise we don't know which type of image you are importing.
Attached is a patch file you can load, that should solve the issues with the import.
Let me know how it goes.

Hello Romana,
You don't have to add the file_title but it is recommended to give a description to your images. It is simply better for SEO.
