Hello there,
Im having trouble with updating the prices for my client. Basically he has 3 different shopper groups so as to have 3 different prices per product (GR / DE / IT).
I have been using the import and export templates from the default ie:
Example VirtueMart Prices import
Example VirtueMart Prices export

However it seems that instead of overriding the shopper group prices it adds them as new options. Please have a look at the attached images so as to know whats going on.

1) I use the Example VirtueMart Prices export to export all the data, After i select the entry i want to edit
Screen Shot 2017-08-08 at 7.19.00 AM.png

2) I copy and paste the selected entries to the Example VirtueMart Prices import template
Screen Shot 2017-08-08 at 7.19.17 AM.png

3) As soon as the import has finished i go to vm and see the following:
Screen Shot 2017-08-08 at 7.19.37 AM.png

Is there a way in which i can override the entries and edit directly on them?

Further queries:
1) In addition cant i just write 1 price per shopper group instead of 4 in the example? (The only reason i followed this is because the export data was listed in that way)?
2) I am not sure if this affects anything however Im using Open Office and basically all the products that are exported and opened with open office the ones that start with 0/zero do not show!! ie 0550 is there a way in which i can set this indefinitely? Because i tend to apply for the product_sku column format cell / properties \0000 for each product that the 0 isn't applied in the beginning.

Additional Information:
VM version: 3.2.2
Joomla version: 3.7.4
CSV Improved version:7.2.3

Please assist me in sorting me out.

Thanks in Advance,
Konstantinos

There are few required fields used to update prices in CSVI and as per your images that is missing in your import file and so the new prices are entered. Have a look at VirtueMart prices import document and the examples section. Basically you need to have product_price_new field with new price value and product_price with old price value along with other required fields to update your price.

1) In addition cant i just write 1 price per shopper group instead of 4 in the example? (The only reason i followed this is because the export data was listed in that way)?

Try setting Group by and Sort by fields in your export template and see if duplicates are solved.

2) I am not sure if this affects anything however Im using Open Office and basically all the products that are exported and opened with open office the ones that start with 0/zero do not show!! ie 0550 is there a way in which i can set this indefinitely? Could be because Open Office properties, what if you open the export CSV file in plain text editor? does it show the 0 then?
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hello Tharuna,
Thank you for your quick reply,
The " VirtueMart prices import document "link you sent didn't have the new field you proposed.
Anyhow I have tried your approach with entering a new field with the template fields and ofcourse within the csv column however unfortunately the shopper groups do not get replaced, i manually delete the entries to fix it.
Is there a work around this?

As for the Grouping i haven't yet tested it out ill let you know when i do and if it fixes it.
Cheers,
Konstantinos

Did you check the Examples section of the document? There are examples on how to update shopper groups as well as product prices. The fields are explained in the Examples section.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hello Theruna,
Thank you for your feedback.
To answer your question yes i have had checked the examples since everything from the template fields was based on that.

This is the template fields

In this image the above columns show the downloaded example and underneath my columns based on the above screenshot ie template fields.

Due to the fact that i only need to change the prices i didnt try to change the shoppergroups, could this be the case?
Can i change the shoppergroup and the prices simultaneously? ie using shopper_group_name_new and product_price_new in the same import file?

Yes, thats the cause. You did not have shopper_group_name_new field in import and so shoppergroups were not updated.

Can i change the shoppergroup and the prices simultaneously? ie using shopper_group_name_new and product_price_new in the same import file?

Yes you can change both fields simultaneously. If you have any issues post the debug log of the import. To know on how to get the debug log check the blue box on top of this page.
Kind regards,

Im beginning to think perhaps an extreme solution might be to delete all shopper groups that have 5,00 as their price?
Do you think this is a viable solution? Do you have an sql script for this?

Thanks in advance,
Konstantinos

Hello,
Can you also send me a sample of your import file along with template XML file to check? To get template XML file go to CSVI maintenance page, Select CSVI Pro on first option and Backup template on second option. Select your template and click continue. Download the XML file and post it.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Before i give you a solution for deleting shopper groups. I see something wrong in your debug log and to confirm that i need your sample import file as requested in my previous post. I will run the import in my test site using your import file and let me see what i can find.

Hello Tharuna,
Thank you very much for your feedback.

I have created the file you requested here:
csvi_templates_import_20170810.xml

In addition i have also combined both import and export files within the xml if it also helps
csvi_templates_import-export_20170810.xml

Please let me know if you need the actual exported csv as well.

Cheers,
Konstantinos

Hello Theruna,
Thank you for your feedback,
I have attached the latest import file which also obtained the new shopper field.

Perhaps the issue might eventually be the grouping, since the export obtains numerous entries for each shopper group / price ?
Let me know if you also need the actual export, that way you will also see the numerous outputs /shopergroups for a single product

Thanks in advance,
Konstantinos

Hello,
Running the price import on my test site with your template and sample import file, prices are entered at first and then updated correctly. I guess there would be some messed up data in your database with your previous imports which is the cause for these price entries. Do you have backup of your database before you started with your import? Can you try to put it back and then run the import again? Else if its your test site you can clean up product prices using CSVI maintenance menu by selecting VirtueMart in first option and Remove product prices in the second option and then run a fresh import. But do remember that this will clean up all the prices for products in VirtueMart and so take a backup before you clean the prices. Run the import and see how it goes.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hello Theruna,
Thank you for your valuable feedback!
Thats the problem, ie the previous entries / prices.

I tried deleting all prices from a particular product then changed the import file by deleting the new shopper field and the new product price (since im creating one from the beginning) and it worked!!!!!!
So after i manually deleted the all the prices from a particular product the import file works correctly!
Here are the fields/columns used for this:
"product_sku";"shopper_group_name";"product_currency";"price_quantity_start";"price_quantity_end";"product_price";"product_price_new"

Now due to the fact that there has been a lot of manual editing on the prices already, is it possible to delete particular products or range of products instead of everything??? I don't have a previous backup that is why just wondering if i can buy some extra time since there have been hundreds of product prices already inputted it would be a shame to loose everything and start all over again.

Please let me know if this is possible???

Thanks in advance,
Konstantinos

Hello Konstantinos,
Glad to know that your import worked.

Yes, you can delete only the needed products by using VirtueMart product import template and by having product_sku field and product_delete field set to Y in your import file.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hello Tharuna,
Thank you very much for all that you did, i eventually deleted everything and started from the beginning since it was too problematic and even more time consuming to make it otherwise :)

I would also like to know how is it possible to add the "product_desc" however in more than one language ie GR/DE/IT???
Will that be possible within my current csv or will i need to create an additional one?
My current csv is like so:
"product_sku";"shopper_group_name";"product_currency";"price_quantity_start";"price_quantity_end";"product_price";

By Adding "product_desc" in the csv how can it be differenciated per language? In the available fields i cannot see something of sort,
Screen Shot 2017-08-22 at 6.08.23 PM.png

Please advise.

Please check the documentation Setting up a VirtueMart multi-language shop. This explains exactly how to import the different kinds of data in the different languages. It depends on the type of data as well that you are importing.
