Only similar question I can see in the CSVi forum is here - https://www.csvimproved.com/forum?view=topic&catid=44&id=32645#45863

I need to export shipping price for Virtuemart > Google Base/Merchant, but there doesn't seem to be anyway to do this from the Virtuemart Product Export. The only field available is "custom_shipping" which doesnt export anything.

I assume that this is going to be difficult, especially where there are multiple shipping rates, for multiple countries.

For me, I need to concentrate on UK only & the exported shipping price needs to be populated with the cheapest available shipping rate for that specific product.

Any ideas?

Hello Andy,

Yes, there is currently no support for that.

I need to export shipping price for Virtuemart > Google Base/Merchant
How is the shipping price determined in your case? Using a shipping plugin?

Any ideas?
Let's see what we can do.
Kind regards,

RolandD

For the Google Base/Merchant export, these need to be done per country anyway, so if we assume that we will use UK only.

We somehow need to export a shipping price per product. The google merchant center wants to see the cheapest available price for the individual product.

  1. Our products all use the default virtuemart shipping plugin.

  2. Our products all have a weight assigned to them.

  3. There are many different shipping methods, dependant upon weight of the individual product.

We cannot trick google and add a default/custom price, as somehow they know what the price should be already, they just want us to confirm it via this XML feed

Google knows everything about us. Check the video on the Google Toilet in case you haven't seen it yet ;)

I am going to setup a small test system and see what I can come up with. Will touch base when I have more info for you.
Kind regards,

Hello Andy,

A little update here, I have been looking into this can of worms. The code is hard to follow and almost like quicksand :) So far I have just been running stuck.

Just a few questions, the standard shipping method has a myriad of options that are used to determine the shipping rate. One important one I think is the country and zip ranges. We would need to know the destination address to know the shipping rate. On export you never know where you are going to ship. I mean shipping within the UK is cheaper than shipping it to the US for example. How would Google deal with that?
Kind regards,

RolandD

It is the shop owners responsibility to create a new xml feed for each country.
So you can always assume one country for this export.

I'm on skype if you need to buzz me about anything, help or test :)

To round this up. The shipping rates are calculated and exported now. This feature will be released with CSVI 6.6.0.

Hello. Would be great to have some updated info related to the creation of the feed for google. I followed the old tutorial here but would be nice to have a template or basic config. I never managed to create the feed correctly using csvipro, was always marked with many errors. I tried both xml and csv. Actually shipping is quite simple since you can define it directly in google merchant center.

Hello,

Andy will provide us with some detailed instructions once he is ready. A sample template can be done but will completely depend on the type of products you sell. As you will know Google requires different fields depending on the type of product you are selling.

Actually shipping is quite simple since you can define it directly in google merchant center.
In this case you get the exact shipping rates for a particular product.

Thanks, that would be great cause we never managed to set it up and I have a friend customer of you also that has been able to set it up... so is possible but he still told me he had to do it in csv cause in xtml google rejected the feed.

I agree that google requires different fields but actually the required ones are pretty much the same for all type of products https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/1344057?hl=en

Hello,

Without knowing about the reason for the XML reject, I can't say anything about it of course or do anything about it. This may be a good nudge towards Andy to see what the status is. Andy?
