Resolved Replacing or appending product images

We have lots of products where we will need to completely replace old images with new ones. Is this somehow possible ir do we need remove old product images manually before or after the import?

What about image metadata alt text etc, how respective where would those properly be imported?

Hello,
You did not mention the extension you need to remove product images. I am assuming it is VirtueMart so in VirtueMart product import template on Image tab set Delete Image relations field to Yes, save the template and run the import with new images. With this setting existing product image relation will be removed and new images will be linked to product.

Another option is from RO CSVI Maintenance page, select VirtueMart from first option and Remove product media link in second option, click on continue. This will remove all existing product image relations. You can then import new images for products.

What about image metadata alt text etc, how respective where would those properly be imported?

You can import those using VirtueMart Product import template. For multiple images multiple metadata can be imported separated by |. Check VirtueMart Product Image Fields document.
