Hello,
Thank you for your response. Yes, I have the current version of RO CSVI 8.8.0. Unfortunately, the problem persists.

If I view the csv file in a text editor, I can see that it uses the ANSI default encoding. I need the default file to use UTF-8 encoding. I can change it in a text editor, but it is not convenient for my client to always have to change it manually. How can I set the default UTF-8 encoding?
Thank you very much

Hello Thomas,
I made this issue as a separate topic.

If I view the csv file in a text editor, I can see that it uses the ANSI default encoding. I need the default file to use UTF-8 encoding. I can change it in a text editor, but it is not convenient for my client to always have to change it manually. How can I set the default UTF-8 encoding?

File encoding is based on the software you use to open the file. What if you open the export file using OpenOffice or LibreOffice? Do you still see the issue?
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hi,
The output csv file from RO CSVI can be found in the attachment
I tested this file using this tool http://csvlint.io/ and and see the result attachment. The problem is this: Incorrect Encoding
"Your CSV appears to be encoded in ASCII-8BIT. We recommend you use UTF-8."

As I already wrote - I can change the encoding of the file manually (in text editor, google sheets, etc.) - but I need it to always be encoded as UTF-8 when exporting from the RO-CSVI.

Hello,

First off, RO CSVI does not do any kind of content encoding because Joomla already stores all values in UTF-8, so there is no need to convert anything.

The service you use to check the data is in alpha state, meaning it is far from being stable. It can't even detect the delimiters you are using. Just to check, any CSV file I upload it detects as ASCII-8BIT instead of UTF-8 but I know for a fact that these files are UTF-8.

Looking at your screenshot, the program you use on Windows PSPad doesn't know what to do with the encoding of the file so simply says it is ANSI default. Most likely it won´t know what to do with it because CSV files have no information in them to tell you which encoding is used to write the file. The only way to find out is to ask the author of the file.

There is the option, Excel CSV in RO CSVI for export that let's you add the BOM sequence to your file. That is because otherwise Excel won't read the file as UTF-8. Perhaps that can help you out if you need it for Excel.

To make this long story short, your client does not have to change anything, the file is UTF-8. PSPad and csvlint.io are incorrect.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Thank you very much for your answer and explanation of the issue. I upload data to an older accounting program... I will try other options and get back to you. Thank you very much for now.
