Resolved Problem with aliases when Importing products in Bulgarian

Hi Roland,

When I am importing products in the site, every slug is stripped from Bulgarian characters, even if I import the product in the Bulgarian table and the language in importing file of CSV is Bulgarian.

In Global configuration I have set SEF URL's to Yes, Use URL Rewrite to Yes, and Add Suffix to URL also to Yes. Unicode Aliases is set to No.

Joomla 3.7.5 | Virtuemart 3.2.2 | CSVI Pro 7.2.3 - this site is in Bulgarian and when importing a product the alias is stripped down to only the latin characters. If there is a bulgarian letter it get stripped. I learned my lesson from a previous problem with one Greek site and all of my products are in the Bulgarian tables, but the slug is not transliterated. And in addition of that when I search for this product in search from the frontend it does not show up, but I can see it, it is right there when I check the category. I do not know if this is related to CSV. So I am lost after one day of fighting this :) I am attaching the log file from my last import.

I will greatly appreciate your help.

Hello Hrissy,

The one thing that always needs to be checked is to see if the language pack supports transliteration. In an older post of you Tharuna posted that the front-end files have no transliteration function. The bg-BG.localise.php file should have a function called 
public static function transliterate($string)


This should be present in the front-end and back-end language file section. Without this Joomla won't transliterate the names. That would be the first thing to check.

Hello Roland,

thank tou for your very fast and useful support! The problem was that in the frontend bg-BG.localise.php file the function for transliteration was missing. So I copied from the backend file and now everything woks absolutely right. I am sorry that I did not find this oldest post in the forum, I would not bother you at all. Back then the problem was that the alias was only with numbers, now the problem was stripping the non-Latin characters - it is a bit annoying, because after every update the same problem may occur. But I will remember that to check this files, when something goes wrong. Thank you again and have a great day!

Hello,

The best way to move forward with this is to inform the creators of the Bulgarian language pack that the transliteration is missing in the front-end. This way they can include it in a future release. You wouldn't have to worry about copying it over.
