Hi Roland,

Hope you are enjoying Joomla Boston day ;)

Doing some tests with CSVI Beta 3 and Multi Variants import; have a question:

Noticed in your tutorial below,

http://www.csvimproved.com/en/support/import/203-virtuemart/1064-importing-multi-variant-custom-field

that you are using the created custom labels Size and Color as fields for import. But ofcourse CSVI will throw a not recognized/supported error for these fields. Also by Resetting the template fields they will not appear as new VM fields, so how can you actually import them? I'm sure i'm missing smth here

You are not missing something, I sort of am ;)

If you import the parent product first, and only the parent product, it will have the Ramifications set. If you run the update available fields then, it will find the ramifications and make them available as available fields. After that you should be able to import the children or full list.

Let me know if that helps.

You make a good point and I think there is something to be considered here in how to support that on the fly.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Managed to get it working this way thanks; ok, not the optimum way to do it i guess, but it does the job :)

Noted also the following:

If you make the import without including the product_name field, CSVI will ERASE all existing product names! (we get "Language missing id xx" instead of the product name). So for now, we always need to include this field to avoid any further issues :P (Haven't tested with any similar fields like product_desc or product_s_desc)

Hello Chris,

Thanks for the feedback. Indeed it is not optimum and I didn't realize it before but not sure yet how to fix that ;)

As for the erasing of the product names, you are the second person to report that, so I will definitely have a look at that.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hi Roland,

Hope you are well!

A small tip update on the multivariants, maybe not so obvious:

Multivariants support the Parent Displayable/Orderable or not feature.

See attached screenshot. When you go to your multivariant list, the first item in the table is the parent. You can set it either with a 'Please Select' option, or predefine a selection. If you predefine all fields then you will have displayed parent, parent orderable etc, otherwise it will not appear at all.

In your tutorial, you imply the Parent Displayable/Orderable setting because for your parent product SHIRT-S-GREEN you set the Size and Color fields. Maybe it's good to clarify that ;)

Now, i'm not sure if CSVI accepts the fields Size and Color to be empty for the parent product, need to check!

Rgrds,
Chris

Hello Chris,

I might be blond but I don't see the Parent Displayable/Orderable in your screenshot. Could you highlight it for me?

I am all for clarifying what needs to be clarified but so far I don't see it :)
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hello Roland,

It's really tricky, i know, i couldn't find it also until vm team told me.

Check the screenshot. The "Please Select" is highlighted on the parent product (note that the parent product is greyed)

In short, there are two possibilities:

1. "Please Select" is selected (i.e. no value is set) -> Parent IS NOT displayable/orderable.
2. Any other value is selected -> Parent IS displayable/orderable.

So basically if you don't set a value for the parent, it is simply not shown. So it is important for CSVI to support blank values for the parent.

Hope it is clear now ;)

Chris

Hi Roland,

Noticed also the following:

Imported the attached file of parents/ramifications. (The log is empty for some reason, i download the zip but the php is 0 bytes, applies to previous logs also)

Then, when i update the fields, i get:

Error
Duplicate entry 'COM_VIRTUEMART_CF_DIAMETER-product-com_virtuemart-import' for key 'component_name_table' SQL=INSERT INTO `y9zak_csvi_availablefields` (`csvi_name`,`component_name`,`component_table`,`component`,`action`) VALUES ('COM_VIRTUEMART_CF_DIAMETER','COM_VIRTUEMART_CF_DIAMETER','product','com_virtuemart','import'),('COM_VIRTUEMART_CF_DIAMETER','COM_VIRTUEMART_CF_DIAMETER','product','com_virtuemart','export')

There were a few ramifications existing, but cannot find the culprit so far.

Chris

Hello Chris,

Do you happen to have duplicate ramifications in your system?

Hi Roland,

Could you pls clarify what 'duplicate ramification' means exactly?

If you mean whether we we have duplicate multi_variant_fields, yes we have alot, you can see in the csv file i sent you.

Hello Chris,

Yes, I saw the duplicate multi_variant_fields in the file before but it didn't register at the time ;) I do think that is the problem when updating the available fields. I am going to recreate duplicate multi_variant_fields to check if that is the issue so I can fix it.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hello Chris,

Are you running CSVI 6 beta 5? I believe this should already have been fixed in beta 5.
Kind regards,

Hello Roland,

thanks for the tip! I was still on Beta 3.

I got same warning though, see attached. Seems that i have to delete the entries from the database.

Reverting.

Chris
