For some weird reason, I need to insert CR/LF into one of the import fields. I know that generally in CSV it's possible, and Excel will generate the CSV with the double quotes, but what if I have a custom delimiter, it should work without the double quotes then? Is it possible to process a multi-line field (article content) with CSVI?

Hello,

but what if I have a custom delimiter, it should work without the double quotes then?
If you have a custom delimiter you can't use Excel anyway because you can't specify your own delimiter in Excel. You will need OpenOffice/LibreOffice to specify your own delimiter. You are going to need the double quotes when using the CR/LF linebreaks.

I wonder, why use a custom delimiter. Is there anything wrong with using the comma as where the name comes from Comma Separated Values :)

You do know that CR/LF is not interpreted by HTML, there it should just be a linebreak like <br />.
Kind regards,

Yep, I should use open office for that matter, thank you.

I have pretty complicated articles with shortcodes. Unfortunately, my shortcode plugin understands them only if I start the shortcode with a new line using the actual line break.

Comma as a field delimiter is fine (therefore, it can be CSV still :) ), but the text delimiter should be something like ~ because " is used in HTML (or I am missing something?)

Can you give me an answer if I can or can't use the line break?

Hello,

You are missing something. The CSV specifications state that any " used in your text should be duplicated, so you get things like this
"<a href="/"index.php"">link</a>"
Any spreadsheet will save the data correctly for CSV by duplicating the " where needed. Nothing you need to do for that.

You can use the linebreaks, just make sure you use the text enclosure. CSVI has no issue dealing with linebreaks.
Kind regards,
