Hi guys,

I wanted to export my Joomla content, especially this fields: https://gyazo.com/d3912a26e5b8965a9510873bdd9cc077 the file was exported with NO addition, so I added ".csv" by myself after the export. As I imported the file, the artciles were looking like this: https://gyazo.com/06465cdbdcc5499292c78c18701bf1b9.

I am newbie. I want to export and import all Joomla menus, categories and articles, after that Virtuemart...

Can you please help me? I have read the tutorials, but I can't find the issue.

Thx, B.

Hello,

the file was exported with NO addition
That means you did not add the extension to the filename. CSVI doesn't add any extension because there are systems that don't use an extension. So if you want a file extension, you need to provide it.

You did not post the information requested at the top of this page under Looking for a useful answer? so I can't say what has happened. However it kind of looks like you did not set any text enclosure in your export file. This is needed because you are dealing with HTML tags. So the field delimiter you would set to ; or , and the text enclosure needs to be set to " and this will give you a CSV file that should be readable.
Kind regards,

RolandD

HI,
thx for answering. I'm using Joomla 3.4.8 to export, with CSVI 6.6.4. The settings for export are like this: https://gyazo.com/9c24d2a7476f8187ea5d721105ad42a3 I've changed the text enclosure to ". Altough I'm getting no .csv-file (I change the file to .csv manually). I Have added the file I got and also the log.

When I'm trying to import it is looking like this: https://gyazo.com/75be2712331dafcff0ac69503042feb3

Hope to get a solution. Thx!

Hello,

Altough I'm getting no .csv-file
That is because you have set the Filename for exported file to Joomla-Content and not to Joomla-Content.csv.

When I'm trying to import it is looking like this
That is looking good to me. What problem do you see?
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hi Roland,

I've now tried to export the Joomla menu & categories and also the VM products. The Joomla content has worked, but the menu doesn't work, categories either and by importing the VM file -- empty page when I'm clicking on "Preview". Please see here: https://gyazo.com/c63b81f8e48a3f7c8c7ae2284fe23cb1
By the way, the Vm file has about 15MB.

Hello,

Uploading a 15MB file usually doesn't work because of server upload limits. Either increase this upload limit in your php.ini file or place the file on the server and let CSVI read it from the server. This way you work around the upload limit.

As for the imports that are not working, let's take one issue at a time, doing multiple at once will confuse too much. So for the category import you need to post the information requested at the top under Looking for a useful answer?. Only then are we able to help you further.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hi Roland,

thx for answering. OK, I will now give you the exact info for each field/template which I want to import.

Joomla Content has allready been imported correctly.

Joomla Categories, please see the shown info:
- https://gyazo.com/2d7c0e0e1efa46b81c7074fbd0fdd785 (live shop)
- https://gyazo.com/d7586d760a59a99069cea10f8ab90b9d (live shop)
At the moment the metas, description and image section (complete!) are missing.

Joomla Menu, should import everything (title, alias, link and so on).

The VM import of the products is working, but I can'*t see the pics and this section is completely empty, the manufacturers and also the metas (description and keys) and also the currency and the generated fields. Please see:
- https://gyazo.com/8b49e09b0957270feb0bf10efc5fa993 (live shop)

The VM categories and manufacturers don't work. I will send you the logindatas for the live and the new shop via PM, sou can see the exact datas.

Live shop: Joomla 3.4.8 and VM 3.0.12

New shop: 3.6.4 an VM 3.0.18

CSVI is 6.6.4

Please see the backup from your component.

Thx, your support is great!

Hello,

Let's focus on one issue at the time, the Joomla categories. You are talking about Joomla categories but the images you posted are for VirtueMart categories. What are we talking about here?

I am missing your debug logs to see what is going on, so post those and I will have a look.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hello,
Your are missing field file_url in your import file so pics are missing. You need to upload the images to VirtueMart default category path images/stories/virtuemart/category before doing the import and in your import file have file_url field with corresponding image names for categories. That should get images for your categories after import. For alt-text you can have field file_meta in your import file or if not available CSVI will import image name as alt-text.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hello,
Your question is missing in the post. Also please post the debug log of the import to check. To know how to get the debug log check Where to get the debug information? section on top of this page.

Hello,
Thank you for sending the log file. If you need CSVI to fill the media fields then in your import template settings on images tab under General options set fill media fields to Yes and then do the import. This option will tell CSVI to use image name as file_meta, file_title and file_description. Try it and let me know.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

No problem, your wellcome!

OK, so I've now changed the settings in the import template to this: https://gyazo.com/2f9202cfd1ae239a88caf5e06fde4989

I've imported the file again and this is the result: https://gyazo.com/40f21114b789171926f59c2337e7426b
looks better, but I want to have the "alt-text" in my new shop as in my live shop: https://gyazo.com/86cbd94730fbee61898a695df43dd187

Does it work?

Hello,
Yes, if you want your own alt-text then you need to add file_meta field in your import file and add your own alt-text. In this case you need to set back fill media fields option to No in your template settings so CSVI don't autofill alt-text with image name. Hope it is clear.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hello,

allright, I've done this before and it didn't work. Now I have changed the settings back to: https://gyazo.com/896c4d4d821c7a7183b215b52c4477da

I've exported the file and imported it, result as followed: https://gyazo.com/a30cb1b377896e4d914a648d37cd409f Again, no own "alt-text".

I've send you the logfile via e-mail again.

Hello,
You have sent your import csv file instead of debug log but that helped. You have file_meta as template field but you don't have that field in your import file. You need to have file_meta field with the text you need for your images in your import file too.
Kind regards,

Tharuna
