I have installed a joomla 3.4.8 with virtuemart 2.0.12 I have csvi Pro
This is a fresh install and I have a csv file from a yahoo shopping cart that I need to import into my joomla / virtuemart shop.
In viewing the getting started section od csvi, I see I need to create a template, but I dont quite understand. Do I create a template and then create fields using names from my headers in old shopping cart?
Would I need to also create multi variants for multiple options, or are these created on the fly during import?
I would tend to think I would have to create a template with fields matching the old shopping cart in VM, so when import is started the data would know where to be added to.
Any confirmation or pointers to get started would be appreciated. Or a getting started video. Thank you in advance.

Hello,
Yes you need to create template first and add template fields to it. You can then Map your fields with CSVI fields.
If you are looking at importing multi variants, you need to follow a procedure in creating the import file. You can look at Importing multi variants document to know more on it.
If you know the matching fields in Virtuemart, add them as template fields, map with your fields and CSVI will import it.

Thank you very much Tharuna. I think I am slowly starting to understand it. One more question if I may. For adding template fields, I presume these are the virtuemart fields. Would I simply add Product Name, Product Sku, Product price, Product Category, Id, etc All the field names from product information page? I have attached an image with red outlines for your review.
If I understand correctly, I would create all these template fields first, then mapp then with the header names from my import csv file. Am I on the right direction?
Thank you again for your patience and help. It is very much appreciated.

Hello,
When you add template fields to your template, you have the option of selecting the field names, For example for Product SKU it would be product_sku, Product Price its product_price etc. You will be able to find the fieldnames looking into the list.
Yes, you need to create these template fields first, Mapping is not required If your header names in csv file are same as the template field names else you have to do it.
