I have been trying for two days to get this to work and I know I just don't understand. I have read the tutorials and forum posts, but I just am not understanding.

Here is what I have in the XML:

file.jpg

Here are my fields fields.png

Here is my field_url field Field.png

Here is my rule rule.png

and here is my template template.png

The import runs, all the data is stored in the items, EXCEPT the images.
I don't see what I am doing wrong.

Hello,

I have been trying for two days to get this to work
Time to ask for some help ;)

What I seem to be missing is the XML path on the combine fields. Now CSVI has no idea where to find the values in the XML. Looking at the screenprint of the partial XML it looks like the path should be Images/Image. Add this to the file_path and all the combine fields in the Template fields list. Then CSVI knows where to add the values of the image fields. You can use the Analyzer in CSVI to get the exact path of the images.

The Source fields in the combine plugin needs to look like this:
file_url,Images/Image,Images/Image,Images/Image

Notice that these fields are comma-separated and not pipe-separated. This is mentioned in the help text of the field. You can see that by clicking on the Help button. You repeat the Images/Image as often as you have fields for them.

That should get you to import the images.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hello! and thank you so much for your reply. I really appreciate it, but it did not work. Here is a screenshot of the rule

I did have a question about this sentence, "Add this to the file_path and all the combine fields in the Template fields list." DO you mean all the combine fields have to have this in them as well? Where does it go? I tried to follow the youtube video in the tutorial and didn't see anything like that.

Hello,

You don't actually have to import the file, you should see the result already in the preview. There you should see the file_url field with the actual values.

DO you mean all the combine fields have to have this in them as well? Where does it go?
Go to Template Fields and select your template. Click on the file_url field and enter Images/Image in the Your field and click on Save & Close. Do the same for all the combine fields, the must all have the Images/Image in the Your field.

After you have done that, check if you see the actual values in the file_url field in the preview. If that looks good, you can run the import.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Thank you! That resolved the problem. To be honest, in the days I was trying to get this to work, I tried all these options, but never with just the right combination. Thank you for helping me get it set up correctly. I see on my site the images, after you click them. The first thing I see though, is a broken image where the thumbnail goes. I bet there is a tricky way to get those working?

I understand and at some point you can't see the forest for the trees. A second set of eyes helps then.

The first thing I see though, is a broken image where the thumbnail goes.
Check if you have the thumbnail creation enabled in your template. This will get CSVI to add the thumbnail on import. I don't think it is possible to add that to your import file, this is the way to go.
Kind regards,

Hello! Thanks for the quick reply. I do have that enabled, so I am guessing one of the other settings is causing it. One thing I changed, it was timing out when I was trying to download all the images and process all at one time, so I changed the "Re-Download Image" setting to "no" and it processes fully. Is that causing this?

Hello,
For your import getting timed out, have a look at Manage timeout document. Set the Re download image to Yes and check if your images are created. If you still have issues post your import debug log to check. To know how to get the debug log check Where to get debug information? document.
