Resolved import XML into custom table

I would like to import an XML file into a custom table within my Joomla Database.
Creating the import template I run into 2 significant issues:
1- I cannot choose XML format anywhere (opposite to the screenshots in the documentation)
2- My custom table is not listed in the list of tables on the Options tab.

Can you please point me in the right direction?

1- I cannot choose XML format anywhere (opposite to the screenshots in the documentation)

You should see the option Use file for extension on File tab in your import template. If you don't see it click on Advanced button on top corner.

2- My custom table is not listed in the list of tables on the Options tab.

Your custom table should have table prefix as other Joomla tables. If it not listed in the list of tables then it may be missing the table prefix.
