Hello everyone,
I am new to RO CSVI and am still looking for best practices :-)
I have users that I need to import from an Excel file. That works quite well so far. But now I need to create a contact for each user.
What is the best way to do this? Can it be done in one step or does it take several? And how can I prevent contacts from being created for existing users?
Many thanks for your help.

Hi Corinne,
Welcome to RO CSVI
Feel free to ask what you like.
Let us know how it goes.
Welcome to RO CSVI
But now I need to create a contact for each user. These are Joomla Contacts I assume. If so, you need to create a Joomla Contact import template or modify the example template if you have that installed and what to get started with that. It is important to include the email address of the users as RO CSVI will look for the Joomla user ID and connect the contact to the Joomla user. You can read more about on the Joomla Contacts Import page.
What is the best way to do this? Can it be done in one step or does it take several? This is a 2-step process, first the Joomla users, then the contacts. Basically how you would do it manually.
And how can I prevent contacts from being created for existing users? You can set the option Overwrite existing data to No on the File tab. That way any existing contacts will not be updated and only new items will be created.
Let us know how it goes.
Kind regards,
RolandD

Good morning
Thank you very much for your quick responses.
One more question for clarification. Is it not possible to create the contacts directly? Do you have to go via export/import?
Best regards,
Corinne

Hello Corinne,
Not sure what you mean by creating contacts directly. But with RO CSVI you can only import/export contacts.
