Hello CSVI,

Im running csvi on joomla 3.4.8 and vm 3.0.12 with csvi pro and virtuemart plugin

I had an old database from an old version of vm 1.0.15 I just wanted to import the id, name, username, email, password and usergroup_name. My thinking was if this basic info was imported, the customer could always still login or reset their password.

The import went great, very smooth and easy. However, I lose all login access afterwards. I cannot login to admin panel through backend. I cant login via front end.

I am at a total loss as to what could cause the problem? Any help or guidance on this please?

Hello,

The problem you are seeing I think is that the password hashing has changed dramatically since Joomla 1. Now Joomla can't decrypt your password. Which then results you in not being able to login.

What you can do I think is to make a test site with the VM 1.0.15 and update it to Joomla 2.5, then use that data to import. Joomla 3 knows how to deal with Joomla 2.5 passwords.

The How do you recover your admin password document explains how to regain access to the site.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Thank you for the quick reply. The odd thing was We had a handful of users already activated on site, 2 super users. We made sure the import list did not have the handful of users already in system, but they were affected by the import.

Also, I tried using the regain accecss through phpmyadmin and editing the database users file. This didnt work at all. I had to restore working backup database to get back in.

I wonder if I can leave the password field out and import just username and name id and registered?

Hello,

If they are not in the import file, they won't be touched but without the debug log and import file, it's just an estimated guess.

Also, I tried using the regain accecss through phpmyadmin and editing the database users file. This didnt work at all.
That is odd, the document I linked is the official guide of resetting a password via the database.

As for the password issue, did you use the password_crypt field? That is needed for already encrypted passwords. The password field is for plain text passwords.

The password field is required otherwise a user can't login :)

Perhaps do a new import run with just 1 user? This way it is easier to understand what is going on.
Kind regards,

RolandD
