Hello together,

I use CSVI, among other things, to export my products for a data feed for Galaxus. To do this, the feed is transferred to an SFTP. In principle, the whole thing also works, but for some reason the password set in the options resets itself after some time, approx. 2-3 weeks.

The "Test (S)FTP Details" button then also indicates that something is wrong with the user data. If I reset the password then it works again for some time. The password itself is not changed.

Have I overlooked a setting that might trigger this or is there a solution for this?

CSVI-Version 8.8.0, Joomla 3.10.11

Best regards
Björn

Hello Björn,

Great, please keep us updated on your findings. We have seen similar issues with passwords in the past because of "helpful" browsers, especially Chrome :o
Kind regards,

Hello Björn,

That is an odd thing to happen.

but for some reason the password set in the options resets itself after some time, approx. 2-3 weeks.
This certainly isn't a feature of RO CSVI :D All joking aside, with reset, do you mean the value is lost or changed in the settings?

If I reset the password then it works again for some time.
Do you reset it on the SFTP server?

Have I overlooked a setting that might trigger this or is there a solution for this?
Not that I can think of as nothing should change if you do not touch it.

You run the export as a cronjob I assume, is that correct?
Kind regards,

RolandD

Thank's for your fast reply! Yes, that's very strange. The Password itself, set on the ftp server settings is the same and is not changed.

I have to tip in the password again in the CSVI tab "source" -> "password". Then it is working again. The placeholder dots for the password are also shorter before the "re tip in" than the original password, so there must be something, that changes/resets the value.

At the moment the export works on manuel clicking on "run". In future i will set a cronjob, if i get figure it out how this works ;)

Yes, I agree with you but what is beyond me.

What I would like to know is what the value is set to before the "re tip in". You can inspect the password field in Joomla 3 by right clicking on the field and choose Inspect or Inspect Element, depending on the browser. The inspector from the browser will open up and show the field highlighted. You should see a text called value that contains the password. The big question is then, what does the field show when the password no longer works. That would be the next step we take.

Edit: Could it be that your browser is doing an automatic fill of the password field?

You can check our Setting up a cron job in RO CSVI on how to configure cronjobs. Part of it will depend on how your host has setup cronjobs but for the majority of the cases this should work just fine.
Kind regards,

Thank's for your reply! I will check this next time, when the problem appears and have a look to which password it is changed.

Could it be that your browser is doing an automatic fill of the password field?

I will check this too, there is an other person using the admin account, so i check if there is something automatic filled.

Also thanks for the link to the cronjobs setup.

best regards

Hello Roland,

today the problem came up again that the password was reset. I spoke to the person who changed the feed today and started the "run" and followed the steps that were taken. When you click on "Save", the browser then asked whether a password should be set automatically. Here was probably not aware that then the browser actually sets a new password.

Thanks for your tip, problem solved :-)

Greetings
