Resolved Export fails/times out on 1st attempt

Hi Roland,

I noticed an issue when using the beta version of CSVi6, but didn't report it with you. THBH, I forgot about it and then want away for summer.
Just updated a site that was using a bet aversion to 6.1.2 and still seem to have a similar issue.

I have a couple of basic export templates, that are not really pulling any major amounts of information.

When running any of these for the 1st time, the export runs but the timer counts up, until it times out.
If I run the same export (or any other export) immediately afterwards, the export always works, within a second or 2 as I would expect.

Steps;


  1. Export

  2. Choose an Export Template

  3. Click Export Button

  4. Runs but times out

  5. Start Again

  6. Choose an Export Template

  7. Click Export Button

  8. Exports & downloads within 1-2 seconds as expected


Has this been reported before?

EDIT

I am also sometimes getting an error,saying that the tmp folder in unwritable.
Checking in the about tab it shows writable.
Go back to try the same export again, works OK??

Brazil was great :) An amazing Joomla Day, if you ever get the chance, I would say go :)

Has this been reported before?
Occassionaly I have heard it but it seems fleeting, not as consistent as you have it. Could you see what the AJAX call returns on the first try? You can use the Using Firebug to analyze import problems tutorial on how to see this. It says import but it works the same for export.

I am also sometimes getting an error,saying that the tmp folder in unwritable.
I have improved the check on whether the necessary folders are writable on the About tab, the current implementation isn't always as accurate. Still weird that it works the next time round.

Only thing I can think of that is a delay in assigning proper permissions to the file created.
