Normaly I don't give up that fast but for now I am realy flabbergasted about the lack of documentation and the struggle to get a 72,50 euro product working

There are no language files except for English (shouldn't be a problem) and there is no step by step guide for all options
I used CSVI 1, 2 and 2.5 but this one, the first paid example doesn't give me any export files.
After deinstalling version 6.1 I received a message that the plugin for virtuemart was not installable (not removable as well)
After trying to use the base templates again I received the message that the export modules were not installed on the server.

Finally I deinstalled all and performed CSVIpro maintenance:
Cleaned temp folder
Updated available fields
Deleted all not working template examples
Made 1 new export template with options download and server
and got 1 working export - with a not findable file
The export file is nowhere to be found
I changed the export template, added ftp and email option
checked log to yes
Started - no results

COM_CSVI_CANNOT_OPEN_FILE
COM_CSVI_CANNOT_START_EXPORT

Takes me 5 hours already to get an export from my products....
Please tell me where does it go wrong, what am I missing and where does CSVI store my export files

Though I am happy it worked once I am not pleased at all about my lack of knowledge

Additional info
Installed CSVI 6.1 on last update joomla 3 with virtuemart 3 last update
In ftp I see components/views/export/tmpl with only a file called default.xml

Hello,

There are no language files except for English
By default only English is provided, other languages will be included once they are translated.

the struggle to get a 72,50 euro product working
Hearing you are a long time user of CSVI, I am surprised you have such problems to get an export running. However server issues are always more difficult to troubleshoot than software issues.

there is no step by step guide for all options
If you mean the options in the template, click on the Help button.

In ftp I see components/views/export/tmpl with only a file called default.xml
You are looking in the wrong place. You need to look at the administrator files.

Please tell me where does it go wrong, what am I missing and where does CSVI store my export files

COM_CSVI_CANNOT_OPEN_FILE
These two are related, since CSVI can't write the export file to the server it can't be downloaded, emailed, send to FTP nor written to a server side location.

So the root cause of not getting an export file is because it can't be created. CSVI writes the original export file into the folder tmp/com_csvi/export/. If it has no permission to open a file in that folder you get the error you see.

So first we need to see if the folder tmp/com_csvi/export exists and if it is there, does the webserver account have enough permissions to write to the folder.

Have a look at that and let's see what it brings.
Kind regards,

RolandD

I am surprised you have such problems to get an export running. However server issues are always more difficult to troubleshoot than software issues - Me too, it must be due to installation or likewise

Mean more simple handout of all menu's; dazzles already to have to install module and additional plugin and no idea why I have to add on website in settings, can not find language in settings etcetera.

We will figure it out. I am pretty sure, once the write rights are fixed, the export will run. I mean, if the code would really be broken, nobody will be able to export.

dazzles already to have to install module and additional plugin
The additional plugin is to add specific add-on support to CSVI. Instead of having a whole bunch of code and options you don't use, you only see what you actually need. In addition, when an update comes out, you don't have to update everything again.

no idea why I have to add on website in settings, can not find language in settings etcetera.
This sentence is unclear to me.

administrator/components/com_csvi exists but has no tmp directory
That is the wrong directory, the directory is tmp/com_csvi/export.

Changing the settings to 777 may work but it is advised to check the server setup why it won't work with 755.

Wish I had sent a mail earlier in the process.
Feel free to post any questions, that is why there is support.
Kind regards,

RolandD
