Hello. When trying to do a simple product import, I keep getting the following message:

1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 3 SQL=SELECT name FROM idaew_csvi_template_settings WHERE id =

This is a brand new install on a brand new site. I am using:

CSVI 5.21.2
Joomla 3.4.1
Virtuemart 3.0.8

I have been using CSVI for a number of years and I have never seen such an error before.

Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Hello,

CSVI is missing the template ID. The question then becomes did you select a template from the process page and choose Load?
Kind regards,

Hello. Thank you for the quick reply. No, I didn't select a template, I never have had the need to use a template, I simply selected product import, selected my file and did everything as per usual. Thank you.

Hello. Can I please get some assistance with this issue? As mentioned, I didn't actually select a template at all, I just simply selected product import and then selected the import file. This is my first attempt at using CSVI with Joomla 3/VM 3. I have been using the product for around 5 years and have never really had any issues at all, until now. Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Hello,

Apologies, I was under the impression you got it working again. Since this is not the case, let's see what is going on. First, can you create a template by selecting the import as you usually do just don't select your file for import but click on Save as new and enter a template name. After that select the file you want to import and run the import.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Thank you for your help. That works fine - I've been able to process the import successfully. Does this mean though, that each time I want to process a new import, I have to setup a template? I normally never use templates and just process the import straight from the file. I would not want to setup a new template each time I was to perform an import of different types? Thank you.

No, that doesn't mean this. You would just have 1 template for product import, select that and hit Load. Then select your file and hit Import.

I would not want to setup a new template each time I was to perform an import of different types?
You can have 1 template for product import, 1 template for category import etc. From what I understand you just do different kinds of product imports, for that you can just reuse the template you have created.

Does that help?
Kind regards,
