I'm trying to import product and category data into a new VirtueMart website. I can import the test product file I'm using but the category file is failing. I've hit a number of similar errors so I've tried clearing down the VM database and removing any duplicates from the csv file but to no avail.

The file is pretty big: deduplicated it still contains over 11000 rows. The error occurs when the import show it has processed 9000 rows.

An error has occured during the import. Below the information received from the server.
Duplicate entry 'Products/Bunting/70mm/Decoration & Embellishments/Bunting' for key 'slug' SQL=UPDATE `#__virtuemart_categories_en_gb` SET `category_name`='Bunting',`category_description`='',`metadesc`='',`metakey`='',`customtitle`='',`slug`='Products/Bunting/70mm/Decoration & Embellishments/Bunting' WHERE `virtuemart_category_id`='9557'

I do have a log of this processing but in the interests of corporate sensitivity I'd prefer not to post it on a publicly availble forum. Let me know if you need me to send it over somehow.

Hello Ian,
With our email conversation, the issue was because of duplicate slug entries in your database and setting Recreate alias to Yes in your import template settings has solved the duplicate entry error. Please confirm if your issue has been solved.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hello again.

I'm having the same problem again and the patch isn't fixing it. I'm on 7.4.1 and I've tried loading and reloading the patch file, but the import always stops with a duplicate entry error (but only on one domain install). I'll email over the files again if that's ok.

Cheers,
Ian

Hi Roland,
Sorry, you're right - I didn't follow up I'm sorry. It worked exactly as expected.

It's only while doing this that it has become apparent that I was testing against the wrong version - we're standardising a build process that should have used v7.4.1 to match one of our live sites, prior to testing the newer version and rolling it out on live. I can confirm this patch fixes the issue in 7.4.1.

I'm not in a position to test 7.6.2 at the moment - this task is long overdue and needs finishing asap. When we gat past the build process and move onto update testing I'll be able to give you more information because we want to be running the newest version we can.

Have a great weekend.

Hello,

The patch Tharuna provided above has been included in the current 7.6.2 release. You said you would test it but I don't see any test results coming back. Can you post the debug log and sample CSV so we can see what is actually happening. I checked the code and there are no differences so I wonder if something else is going on.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hi All,

I've encountered the same problem again using 7.6.2. Is this fix included in this release? If not, can we get another patch, please?

Hello,
The changes in patch file got missed when another feature was developed using same file. You can load the attached patch file for 7.4.1 version and check your import. This fix will be included in our next release.

Hi Tharuna, Roland,

I'm getting this same issue again in 7.4.1.

Will the same patch file address this or should it have been addressed already in the latest version?

To recap - I'm importing categories, and the import is failing and claiming there's a duplicate record when there isn't.

Hello Ian,
I could find the cause for Duplicate slug error and the attached patch file will fix it. Can you load the patch file from CSVI maintenance menu and give a try with your import? I would advise to clean up data imported with your previous category import and do a fresh one.

Do you have file size limits on your email? The three attachments total 84.1MB; certainly too large for PM attachment.
I won't click send until you let me know you're ok to receive them. I don't want to jam up your inbox.

Hello,
Can you post your import file, debug log and template XML file to check? You can send them in a private message or email it to tharuna@csvimproved.com. To get template XML file go to CSVI maintenance page, Select CSVI Pro on first option and Backup template on second option. Select your template and click continue. Download the XML file and post it.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

I'm afraid I'm still having trouble.
If I skip that particular field the file will import (but obviously the alias is wrong).
If I turn on recreate alias (regardless of whether that field is set to skip or slug), the file will import but again the alias is wrong.
As soon as I reintroduce that field, the import stops at the same point. I've checked and double checked and there aren't duplicates in that column.

What am I doing wrong?

HI Tharuna,

Thanks for your response. There are no duplicates within the file, but your suggestion did remind me that I have some rules that amend the contents of the slug when it's being imported. I've disabled these and I'll try again. Fingers crossed.
