Hi, I read in some articles via google search that it is preferrable to delete article content, categories, etc. using CSVI. I, however, cannot find the delete option in the import templates. My CSVI version is 8.22.1. Kindly advise how to go about this. Thank you.

Hello,
You cannot delete article content or categories with RO CSVI import but you can update them to new content with import. May I know why you are looking at deleting article content and categories?
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hello Tharuna,

I exported the content, category and tags from a Joomla 3 site (Rockettheme). I now plan to import them to a different Joomla 4 template (Joomlart). The Joomlart template comes with demo content which contains preset categories, content and tags which I don't need. Do I delete them manually from Joomla backend or is there a feature in CSVI that will delete the existing ones and replace them with the ones from the import so that the IDs from the Joomla 3 site will be kept?

Hi,

There is no option in RO CSVI to delete content. You will either have to delete them manually or setup a clean site without demo data.

We have the option to keep the old IDs in our import templates. The migration templates have this enabled by default. Are you using these templates? Make sure that none of the IDs of the old site exist on the new site, otherwise you might get mixed data as RO CSVI will update existing data if the ID already exists. This might not be what you want when it comes to demo data.

Let us know how it goes or if you have any further questions.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Thank you for that clarification RolandD. I will now proceed with deleting all demo content from the Joomla 4 site.

Hi,

Just something I want to ask, you said Joomla 4 but why are you not using Joomla 6? Joomla 4 is no longer supported and Joomla 6 is the most recent version.
Kind regards,

RolandD
