Hello there. I'm using CSVI version 5.20 on Joomla 3.4.1.

I'm using CSVI to import products into Virtuemart but I'm having trouble with the Custom Fields for All plugin. I've discovered that the import works fantastic if I'm importing fields where the record is already in the database. For example. If I have a field set-up that has options for say a shirt: (zipper, buttons) and the data going in is one of those options already. The problem is that if I want to include a third option (velcro) than it kicks back an error in where I need to pre populate the database manually.

Normally it wouldn't be a huge problem but one of my fields is a price where the range is between $1 and 4999.99. That's a huge number of records that I need to prepopulate the database with. Is there a way that CSVI would check if there is a record already in the db for that field then add it to the table if it isn't there?

Does that make sense? Thanks so much for your awesome help in the past.

Hello David,

First thing I would like to point out is that you are on an older CSVI version, it would be good to update to the latest version 5.21.2 because there are some changes in regards to Custom Fields For All.

As to "it kicks back an error", what error may that be?

The newer version also adds values not yet assigned to your Custom Fields For All custom field during import. So I think that may be what you are asking for?
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hello Roland,

I also have this problem.
After a import only the last custom field is imported in the back end. (see customfields01.jpg)
In the front end there are 3 fields with text but they don't work. (see customfields02.jpg)
In the attachment you find the import file. (import_custum_fields.csv)

Hello Adri,

I also have this problem.
You seem to understand what David says, to me it is still unclear what the exact problem is ;)

The images did not attach, could you try again? Perhaps they are too large in size when you first added them.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Please post the debug log as well, otherwise I can't see what happens during the import.
Kind regards,

Hey guys,

It is clear to me now what you see happening. If you want to import multiple values, you must use the multiple_values field with a value of Y. Read the Custom Fields For All for VirtueMart tutorial. It is mentioned at the end.
Kind regards,

RolandD
