I am not 100% certain about all the intricacies of this issue, we are still investigating, but here's our suspicion so far...
CSVi has an option to generate product image thumbnails. It seems to use its own logic, separate from VM thumbnail settings.
We separate product photos in folders, for better organization. So e.g. for tshirts, the photos go to:
images/products/tshirts/
(images/products is the root for all product images)
CSVi will put the thumbnails in:
images/products/tshirts/resized/
If in the future, for whatever reason, we want to recreate the thumbnails for the products, via Virtuemart...
the thumbnails will be re-created in a different folder: images/products/resized/tshirts/
This is a real-world scenario, VM has a general Reset Thumbs function, and we may need to use it in certain occasions.
We are now left with obsolete thumbnails folder, the ones created by CSVi.
It seems benign, but it eventually bloats up the server and our backup files with useless images.
How to fix/improve:
Allow to use the VM logic when creating the thumbnails. CSVi could read the VM settings, and get the paths (and thumbnail sizes) the same.
Thanks for your time.
