Hi all,

I'm about to import 1200 articles (Joomla content) into my installation, where the content categories already exist.
In this tutorial https://csvimproved.com/support/import/207-joomla-content/955-joomla-content-import it is mentioned that alias and category_path are required.

Is it possible to use the catid filed instead of category_path for the same purpose?

Thanks,
Alex

Hello Alex,
Yes you can use catid instead of category_path. We don't encourage users using id fields in imports and so it is not mentioned in the document but you can still use catid field for your content import.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Thanks for the immediate reply Tharuna :)

Speaking of IDs, I am planning on importing the existing article IDs. Bad idea?
If I do not import the article IDs, does CSVIPro create them automatically?

Hello Alex,

Not at all, there is a option in CSVI to import existing article ids in Joomla content import. To use this option in your template settings on Options tab set Keep existing ids to Yes and then run the import.

If I do not import the article IDs, does CSVIPro create them automatically?

Yes if you don't import article Ids, CSVI will create them automatically.
Kind regards,

Tharuna
