I am trying to map fields for Joomla Content Import and no matter what I try, after uploading my sample CSV and saving the field map for the first time, it automatically populates every field as "access" and there's no option to leave the field blank, so then when I go over to Templates after generating the field map, it has "access" listed multiple times.

Is this a known bug?

Hello,

It defaults to this even if I upload a brand new spreadsheet as a template and before I click save.
That is correct because the dropdown fields have no empty field, so it shows the first option from the dropdown. Depending on which type of import you chose, the first field can be something different.

I did find a workaround by labeling all the unneeded fields as "skip."
This is not a workaround but expected to work like that. RO CSVI cannot handle columns with no name, every column must have a name. In the case of fields you don't need, this column name is skip.

It's just odd because the first couple of times I used it, the fields just remained blank until I selected something.
I do agree it is odd because I would see it as a bug that you have an empty column name. The only thing I can think of is, that you accidentally had an entry in the available fields list that was empty. This would show up as the first field in that case.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hello,
Which version of RO CSVI you are using? There is no bug with this functionality as i see the selected fields are saved. Are you sure you saved the mapped fields after they are selected?
Kind regards,

Tharuna

I am on 7.18.0.

It defaults to this even if I upload a brand new spreadsheet as a template and before I click save.

I did find a workaround by labeling all the unneeded fields as "skip." It's just odd because the first couple of times I used it, the fields just remained blank until I selected something. I tried a new session in an incognito window with no chrome plugins to make sure it wasn't something 3rd party causing it, and it still does the same thing.

That actually could be it.

After I submitted this query I started working on a different document for virtuemart instead of Joomla content, and it all went smoothly, so perhaps it was just the initial CSV formatting that caused my confusion.

Thank you for the quick reply btw!
