Resolved RO Users - Cron Job alterative

Hi,
Is it possible to add an alterative function for the Cron Job method?
Like triggering the script if XYZ User is logging-in or if a XYZ User from a Group is logging-in.

Hello,

In general you do not want such a trigger when a user logs in because the user will have to wait for the script to finish, which could mean they need to wait a while. With RO Users this is not possible as it stands now because the script can only be run from the command line/cron job, so cannot be run from another webscript.

What would be the use case of triggering only when a user is logging in? If it runs as a cronjob you can run it as often as you like.

The problem is that i don't have access to Cron Job. Would be nice to have some kind of alternative to Cron Job.

Hello,

A webhost that does not provide a cron service, I can only :( Cron jobs are native to Linux systems, so I don't know why they would not offer that. Unfortunately there is no alternative other than rewrite the code.

Not having cron jobs also means you cannot run the Joomla cron jobs, very limiting restrictions by your host.
