Before I subscribe to RO CSVI can you please confirm I can configure it to achieve the following;

To ‘watch’ a folder on the server into which HTML files are placed via FTP and to then process those files into Joomla articles.

The HTML is output from a desktop sailboat race results application and I attach an example HTML file (please note that the suffix has been changed to .txt as your upload filter would not allow me to upload an .html suffixed file).

You can see this file published online here; https://www.cowesclassicsweek.org/results/squib-ccw-2023-results

I have previously used the 'HTML 2 Articles' extension, but it is not available with Joomla 4 compatibility so I am looking at alternatives.

Hello Steve,

Thank you for your interest in RO CSVI. Unfortunately RO CSVI cannot be used to convert HTML files into Joomla articles. The main problem being that we have no HTML parser in RO CSVI. There is an XML parser but that cannot be used because HTML is not really XML.

I did some testing with the sample file you provided but cannot get it to read properly. Further the HTML is not valid HTML as it is missing a closing table tag. Even with that fixed it cannot be read because it isn't XML.

Unfortunately you cannot use RO CSVI to parse the HTML files into Joomla articles.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Roland,

thanks for taking he time to look at my challenge.

The results application is also able to generate an XML output - I have attached an example. If you could tell me if RO CSV is able to parse it then that would be wonderful.

Hello Steve,

Now that is an XML file :D RO CSVI is able to parse the XML file no problem. Attached is a screenshot of the analyzer in RO CSVI and how it "sees" the XML file. As you can see every node is a field of it's own so you are flexible as how you want to handle it.

Since I do not know which info you require, you can also limit what RO CSVI sees by specifying a more precise record path. You can play with this if you want on our demo site at https://demo4.rolandd.com/administrator After you are logged-in go to RO CSVI -> Analyzer and you can load your file there and set the record name. As a first step you can copy what I have done in the attached screenshot.

Since you want this to be a Joomla article, do you know how it should look like? As in which data has to go where? Looking at it as it is now, it doesn't seem to be a format you may want. A lot can also be done with the Rules in RO CSVI where you can combine stuff together for example.

Let me know if you have any further questions.
