Resolved MySQLi or Mysql PDO?

Hi

I have csv improved 7.4
I changed my hosting server recently and my admin suggest to use MySQL PDO for better performance

What I should do? Change to MySQLi or might update to your latest version where I might be able to use Mysql PDO?

PS I use Joomla 3.8.12
