This is still an issue. Not a big one, but just a little annoying. Dragging item to a different position works, but after reload of the page the are back where the were.

This has been fixed in version 8.9.0 already and what you describe I can no longer reproduce since it has been fixed. However I am also sure that what you are experiencing is real
So I decided to run some tests on a few other sites and then I did find it.
The reason it fails is when the ordering value goes to a negative number, like ordering is set to -1, 0, 1. The -1 is not accepted by the database as it requires a positive number.
Now to allow for both positive and negative numbers I have made some changes. Please follow these steps:

- Load the attached patch file
- Go to RO CSVI -> About page
- Click on Verify Database
- Now try the drag and drop ordering
