In this document we explain on migrating K2 categories from a Joomla 3 site to Joomla categories in a Joomla 4/5 site. To start with the migration we first create a K2 categories export template.
K2 categories export
1. From RO CSVI templates page create a new template with action as export, component as K2 and operation as category.
2. Add template fields access, category_path, description, language and published. We need another important template field to import categories into Joomla. That is extension field. Since this field is not available in K2 categories export template. We add custom template field and add column header as extension and set default value as com_content.
3. Run the export.

Joomla categories import
Once you have the export file. Next step is to import it in Joomla 4/5 site. To do that
1. From RO CSVI template page create a new template with action as import, component as Joomla categories and operation as categories.
2. Select the K2 categories export file and check the fields on Import preview page.
3. Run the import.
