Beste heer/mevrouw,

Did you use the migration templates which comes with RO CSVI installation for moving the articles? If not, I would recommend to use these templates and if you still have problem I can look at your site and help you with import. Please check Migrate Joomla data using RO CSVI migration templates document on how to install and use these migration templates.

Since you want to export from one site and import to 36 sites, you can use Save on server option in export template. Use the server location either as FTP or URL you can import the export file in other Joomla sites. You can run these imports as cron to run it automatically.

My apologies, I thought you were a Dutch-speaking company.
Thanks for your reply
I did indeed also use the template that comes with RO CSVI. But unfortunately it doesn't work.
As for the export via server it would be a nice option but first I want the articles to be exported properly and then I will look at importing as cron.
do you want to look at it.
Thank you

Roland speaks Dutch but not me :)

I did indeed also use the template that comes with RO CSVI. But unfortunately it doesn't work.

I had a look into your site https://j4demobp.yoursite.nl/ and did not see any templates installed. I installed example migration templates and ran export using Example Joomla Content Export Migrate template and export runs without any problem. May I know what is the issue you have with export?

Sure, Please check the export with the template I mentioned and let me know on how that goes.

Yes, I deleted all the templates for you because there were many errors. For example, I couldn't select any component.

This is how far I've gotten, but it goes wrong when I try to export to another database or save on server. Nothing happens, except for the articles being deleted on the other website: https://j4zwijndrechtbp.yoursite.nl/nieuws.

We want to export certain articles from the "National News" category from https://j4demobp.yoursite.nl/ to https://j4zwijndrechtbp.yoursite.nl/nieuws.

The errors are occurring during the import of articles from https://j4zwijndrechtbp.yoursite.nl. Your plugin is indicating that the FTP username and password are incorrect, even though these are the correct credentials that I sent to you. You can test it yourself and log in via FileZilla using those credentials.

Hello,
I had a look at https://j4zwijndrechtbp.yoursite.nl/ site to setup the import from FTP. I do see the error with Test FTP button and that is because of password read wrong with %02 with Test FTP button. We are looking into this bug and will fix it. But this is not going to affect the import.

I ran export on https://j4demobp.yoursite.nl/ and saved it on server location. I then setup FTP details in template Example Joomla Content Import Migrate on https://j4zwijndrechtbp.yoursite.nl/ site and see preview loading without any problem. I did not run the import though. As mentioned already we would recommend you to use migration template coming with RO CSVI. These templates have most of the settings already set so import and export goes easier. Please try the import with Example Joomla Content Import Migrate template and see how it goes.

Tharuna

Hey Tharuna
Thank you it works but 1 thing is not to our liking.
We only export the category from https://j4demobp.yoursite.nl (Landelijk nieuws ID 15) and the other website j4zwijndrechtbp.yoursite.nl the category (Landelijk nieuws ID 8) has different ID. here the articles are indeed imported in category id 15 but on that website it is a different name category (blog ID15)
is there a way to import the articles specifically to the correct category

Support

Hello,
You need to migrate Joomla categories before you migrate the articles. You can use migration templates which comes with RO CSVI for Joomla categories. The export and import are done the same way as we have for Joomla articles. Install the migration templates on both sites, setup Save on server option for export and Load from FTP for import. Run the import to create categories.

You can then run the Joomla article import so the articles are imported to specific category. Since the category Landelijk nieuws is not available in https://j4zwijndrechtbp.yoursite.nl/ they are imported to default Uncategorised category.

Please check Migrate Joomla data using RO CSVI migration templates document to install and use the migration templates.

Tharuna

Thank you for your help, it's working perfectly now. I have one more question though: I want the exporting and importing to happen automatically using a cron job. How can I set that up using your plugin? Do I need to specify a specific URL to use for the cron job on my server?

I want to run a cron job to automate the import of j4zwijndrechtbp.yoursite.nl through my hosting provider. But it gives an error message, see screenshot. What am I doing wrong? I have used this command:

/usr/local/bin/php /home/j4zwijndrechtbp.yoursite.nl/public_html/administrator/components/com_csvi/helper/cron.php --key="f8eb***************" --template_id="8" --file="/home/j4demobp.yoursite.nl/public_html/Joomla-articles.csv"

Hello,
You have set path to file /home/j4demobp.yoursite.nl/public_html/Joomla-articles.csv from a different server? That will not work. Please set the import file by using FTP or server URL option in template source tab. You can remove the --file argument from cron command as import file will be used as per template setting.

Also the screenshot shows there was an error. What is the error? Can you post the error details?

Tharuna

Thank you for your response.
The issue was related to the security key my mistake , and now the cron job is working.
However, when I create a new article on j4demobp.yoursite.nl with a completely new photo (uploading a photo), the article is exported and imported successfully to j4zwijndrechtbp.yoursite.nl, but the photo is not transferred. I have referred to your documentation at https://rolandd.com/documentation/ro-csvi/i-want-to-import-articles-with-images, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Hello,
Thank you for posting requested details. You have images and image_intro field in import file. images field takes priority on import as it is JSON format of all image processing. In that case image_intro field and related fields are not used. Please remove images field and check the import.

Hello,
Yes login worked. Thank you.

I had a look at your import template Example Joomla Content Import Migrate and noticed few things

  1. images field is still in the import. You can see the field in import preview page. See attached screenshot. Please remove the field.
  2. The value of image_intro field should be just the image path like images/nieuws/1028.jpg but it also has the image adapter values. You need to remove these adapter values using RO CSVI Multi replace rule. See attached screenshot on how to create Multi replace rule using regular expression. Apply this rule on image_intro field and see if the value is images/nieuws/1028.jpg. You can check that on import preview page.

Regular expression to be used in the rule

/#.*$/

Also make sure the image 1028.jpg is already copied to folder images/nieuws/. Run import and check.

Good morning
I have processed everything you sent in the previous message and still it does not work the photos are not imported.

Hello,
You still have image value as

images/nieuws/1028.jpg#joomlaImage://local-images/nieuws/1028.jpg?width=750&height=421

Whereas it should be images/nieuws/1028.jpg. I had a look into your site to see the template import 7-7-2023 settings and see you have created the rule but the rule is not applied. You did not have template fields created to apply the rule. I added template fields to your template and applied the rule. Now image_intro field loads correct. Please run the import and check.

Tharuna

the entire import no longer works on the template import 7-7-2023.
would like to have it on the Example Joomla Content Import Migrate

Support

Hello,
I checked Example Joomla Content Import Migrate template and see you have template fields added with rule applied.

Two things

  1. In template settings on File tab Use file for configuration was set to Yes. I changed this to No so template fields are used instead of column headers from file.
  2. I see field values are messed up on Import preview page. Something must have changed in import file. Check from where access field gets value landelijk-nieuws. That is wrong and that is conflicting other fields. See attached screenshots.

Hello,
I have now made a very new import "new import 10-07-2023" the import is working fine again and also with cronjob but now the proplem is still importing a new photo uploaded photo. I did everything you told me but it doesn't work.
I linked the multi replace rule to the image_intro and used your code /#.*$/ at find but it doesn't work it gives the old path see screenshot I think something is wrong with your plugin .
would like to solve the problem. the only thing that doesn't work now is the photo won't load. I would like to see if you can solve it yourself. every time you send something new but if I change something in my tamplate the other function is dropped.

Hello,

I think something is wrong with your plugin .

There is nothing wrong with the plugin. Let me explain on what is going wrong. RO CSVI reads column headers either from import file or from template fields added to the template. These are database fields which RO CSVI identifies and uses it to import values. In template settings we tell RO CSVI to use one of these using Use file for configuration option on File tab. See attached screenshot.
So if Use file for configuration is set to Yes, RO CSVI uses column headers from file. If Use file for configuration is set to No, RO CSVI uses template fields. You have set Use file for configuration to Yes so column headers from file are used. Now when column headers from file are used there is no option to apply the rule and so image_intro value does not change. In this case you need to set Use file for configuration to No and add template fields. Rule should be applied on image_intro template field. Also template fields should be added in the same order as column headers in import file.

I did not do anything to your template. Please do these changes and check import preview page. Once all the fields have correct values you can run the import.

Hope I have explained the issue clear.

I set default value to 0000-00-00 00:00:00 in template field for publish_down field and import runs without error. There are few missing images, please look into them.

Thank you,
the photos that I miss that's what it's about. I have the photos in the other environment https://j4demobp.yoursite.nl/nieuws and would like to import them to https://j4zwijndrechtbp.yoursite.nl/nieuws.
I'm concerned that I want to import the entire articles, I've been working on it for almost 2 weeks now and every time it doesn't work. and have to adjust this and that i appreciate it but it doesn't work to our liking and last week i was able to fix the cron job but now it doesn't work anymore and i miss a lot of articles on my website.

I would like to explain what I need from your plugin. We have the website /j4demobp.yoursite.nl where we post articles with text and photos. We would like to export these articles to other websites, one of which is https://j4zwijndrechtbp.yoursite.nl.

The problem I am currently facing is that the photos of the articles on j4demobp.yoursite.nl are not included in the export or not imported correctly. I have previously sent you the login credentials for both websites. I have gone through your entire documentation regarding the issue I am facing.

I kindly request you to take a look at this and investigate what is going wrong. You are also welcome to test it yourselves by exporting and importing articles. I would appreciate hearing back from you.

Thank you very much!

Support

Hello,

We have the website /j4demobp.yoursite.nl where we post articles with text and photos

Do you mean images inside article introtext and fulltext fields?

If it is about images for image_intro and image_fulltext fields then RO CSVI has the option of importing remote URL images. All you need to do is to set Save images on server to Yes on Image tab in template settings and have image URL for image_intro or image_fulltext field like

https://j4demobp.yoursite.nl/images/nieuws/1028.jpg

I have created a rule in import template to add https://j4demobp.yoursite.nl/ as value before image_intro field and see image URL loading on import. Please run import and check.
