RO CSVI 8.22.0 release
This release marks the end of an era. Joomla 3 support was added in the release of CSVI Pro 5.9.5 on 28th March, 2013, that is 149 months or 12 years ago. For some things that is a lifetime, surely my phone does not last that long. The time has come to move on and start updating the codebase for more modern systems. We are seeing issues due to incompatiblities between old and new Joomla versions, features that cannot be implemented due to old libraries, the workload increases with more versions to test. We are looking forward to the release of RO CSVI 9 next month which will not show much on the outside but we have started with cleaning up the codebase for Joomla 5/6, updated libraries and PHP 8.2+ support which will bring more stability.
This release, other than being the last one for Joomla 3, is the same as always. A number of new features and bugfixes.
Google Sheets
In this release it is now possible to run a Google Sheets export from the front-end, just like any other export. A confirmation message will be shown. This message is customizable per template as explained in the Setting up Google sheets export using RO CSVI.
Multiple images in VirtueMart Product export
The VirtueMart Product export has been given a new feature that has been requested by numerous users. This feature allows to export images as individual fields. In your export template you can add the file_url or picture_url field but if you have multiple images they come in that one field with a separator. There are many cases where you would want a column for each image, for example as image1,image2, etc. so that the target system can easily read the images. The column names are fully customizable, so you can create your own names, the only fixed value is the number because we need to know which column should get which image. In the document Split multiple images to individual columns it is explained how to set this up.
End of support
Support for Joomla 3 and Joomla 4 has now come to an end. No new features or bugfixes will be made for these versions.
