but installing the patch does not solve the problem and causes an error when importing

The fix in the patch file was included with RO CSVI 8.9.0 version. Since you are on RO CSVI 8.17.0 version the fix is already included with it. You don't have to install the patch file.
Can you send me sample of your import file to check?

Thank you for posting the file. I was able to reproduce the error with your file. Load the attached patch file and then run the import. Those VM bind errors should be gone with patch file. Run the import and let me know.

unfortunately, applying the patch caused a serious error
all fields that were of the customfieldsforall type are displayed correctly and the error disappeared
but all other fields were overwritten and their values were replaced with the value "customfieldsforall"
reinstalling CSVI with add-ons and re-importing products restored the correct data but the original problem with the error still exists

My bad. I noticed that vmerror was gone with patch file but did not notice it messed up other values. Please load the modified patch file and check the import.
