Hi Roland,

Can CSVi be used to import template rules?

As you know, I am currently working on setting up a google merchant centre xml export & as part of that I need to set up a LOT of rules to change the shop category to a generic Google category.

I was thinking of setting up an import template with rule_name, plugin, find, replace,multiple_values,method

Also do I need to set up multiple rules or can I just set up one rule and have a new category on a new line in the find/replace text area field?

Thanks in advance - again

Sort of figured this out for myself ;)
I looked at setting a CSVi custom template up, but after looking in the database & seeing what needs to be stored in "plugin_params" , it started to look a bit messy.

I have figured out that setting up ONE rule, using multiple values & regular expressions, I can add all my categories in & although a bit time consuming, I think I am going to set this up manually :pinch:

I have added that ONE rule to the category section and upon initial test seems to work OK.

Hello Andy,

Can CSVi be used to import template rules?
Yes and No. Let me explain, no it cannot because CSVI has no idea how to data for each rule is stored. So there is no specific import/export routine for the rules.

However with the Custom table import/export you can import/export the data from the csvi_rules table as you figured out.

seeing what needs to be stored in "plugin_params" , it started to look a bit messy.
When you have a lot of stuff yes, it can look messy due to the JSON format.

What you can do is, setup the rules in a spreadsheet and use a function to combine all the stuff into the correct format. That may make life easier, it will also be helpful in maintaining the category changes in the future as you can pull up the spreadsheet and recreate a new plugin_params string.
Kind regards,

RolandD
