Trying to update to the latest CSVi throws an error that the "availablefields" table already exists. The forums suggest a complete uninstall and fresh install, but I have a lot of data that I don't want to lose. Is there a way to preserve or export/import the data so I don't have to start from scratch?

Hello,
If you have already updated to CSVI 6 version, you can backup templates by going to maintenance menu, select CSVI pro on first dropdown and then backup templates on the second option. Then you can uninstall CSVI completely, install new version and from same maintenance menu try restoring the template.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Unfortunately, I'm coming from 5.12. Would it be easier to get some in-between upgrade files to help with the transition?

ETA: When I first tried to install 6.5.3, my CSVi in Components menu disappeared and I've had to uninstall and reinstall. 6.5.3 is working I think, but the interface is quite different. I have a backup of all of the csvi database tables if doing some work in the database would also work.

Hello,

Did you follow the upgrade instruction? If so, CSVI would have converted your templates to the new format.

You are in a bit of a pickle now because your current installation is incomplete. The best way forward would be to restore a backup of your site somewhere and follow the upgrade instructions. Once that is done, you have the templates in CSVI 6 format and you can backup and restore them from the maintenance section. With that backup in hand, you could completely remove CSVI from your current site and do a clean CSVI 6 install and after that restore the backup templates in there and you should have your templates again.

One note, the replacement rules are not converted, they will have to be redone.
Kind regards,

Unfortunately, no I didn't notice the upgrade instructions. I do, however, have backups of the 5.12 program and database tables, so I've reverted back to that and I'll follow the instructions to the letter this time and hopefully get it right.

That should be workable indeed. You would first completely remove CSVI from your current installation. Add the database tables back in and install version 5.12 and after that the 5.21.2 version. After that the 6 version and you should be good to go.

After returning to the original state and dropping/re-adding the tables, following the instructions and getting the virtuemart add-on for 6.5.3, almost everything went back to normal. It looks like all I need to do at this point is start re-mapping the fields and I should be good to go. Thanks!

The fields are no longer available in the templates? It probably is less work adding them back in than to figure out why your fields are no longer linked against the template.

Glad things are working out.
Kind regards,

Turns out I was missing a couple of extra plugins for VM custom fields and customfieldsforall and most importantly, I'd forgotten to run Maintenance and update the available fields. All is well now thanks!
